The Coalition Studios reveals a brand new limited edition Gears of War 4 Elite Wireless Controller during Microsoft’s E3 2016 conference, which is available for pre-order now.
Fans clamoring for more controller-based options for their Xbox One were given exactly what they asked for at Microsoft’s E3 2016 Press Conference, where the company officially unveiled a grizzled looking Gears of War 4 Elite Wireless Xbox Controller. The red controller boasts a battle-hardened, gritty design that features blood, scratches, and even the familiar Gears of War logo. Gamers who purchase the controller will also get an exclusive in-game item, and three Gear Packs.
The standard Xbox One Elite Controller proved to be a popular item when it released in October, and ended up being nearly impossible to find in stock anywhere for several months after it released. Xbox head Phil Spencer personally apologized on behalf of Microsoft for falling behind on the orders, stating that demand simply exceeded what they had predicated. If the early reactions for the Gears of War 4 controller are any indication, Microsoft may want to ramp up production of the grizzled controller as much as it can.
Fans of Gears of War 4 have had plenty to celebrate today, as the staple Xbox title featured prominently during Microsoft’s E3 2016 Press Conference. The Coalition Studio boss Rodd Fergusson not only confirmed that cross-play between PC and Xbox One gamers would be possible in the title, but even had some slick co-op campaign gameplay to show to consumers. As the Gears of War 4 portion of the presentation came to a close, the studio gave a surprise first-look at Marcus Fenix, confirming that the protagonist from the original trilogy would feature in the game, although as to what capacity Marcus will feature is still to be determined.
This wasn’t the only bit of controller-based news that those watching the conference will have seen, as Microsoft also revealed that Xbox Design Labs will play host to a very intuitive and oft-requested way for gamers to customize Xbox One controllers. Console owners will now be able to design their own controllers from scratch or select designs from an existing library, and the official E3 2016 video shows that there seems to be limitless color-combinations available for players. For anyone thinking about picking up a new Xbox One controller, today was certainly a good day.
The aforementioned exclusive in-game item has yet to be revealed for those players who pre-order the controller. Plus, the proper release date for the limited edition controller itself is still unknown as well.
The Gears of War 4 Elite Xbox Controller is currently available for pre-order on the Microsoft Store, and retails for $200. A release date for the controller has not been announced.
