In a post on the official forums, The Coalition reveals an update today for Gears of War 4 will make it easier for players to earn credits and unlock certain gear packs.

The long awaited return of the Gears of War franchise is finally here. As the latest entry in the long running series, Gears of War 4 introduces players to new enemies, new heroes, and a whole lot of cover-based, third-person shooting. While Ultimate Edition fans have been playing the game since last Friday, gamers who are picking up the title today, on its actual release date, will have a small update waiting for them once the inital install finishes.

In a post on the official Gears of War forums, The Coalition announces that a new update is now available for Gears of War 4 centered around the new credits system. Based on community feedback and data monitoring since the Ultimate Edition of the game launched last week, the studio has made the process of acquiring in-game currency easier and has slightly reduced the price for purchasing card packs. Specifically, match completions in any of the Versus multiplayer modes has been increased and the Elite Pack Credit price has been reduced from 4000 to 3500.

Match bonuses are issued out regardless of if a team wins or loses, but a victory will earn a great sum of experience and credits. These changes aim to increase the earn rate for players and to help the game feel more rewarding with new content coming at a constant clip.

Additionally, the post warned that there is a known issue in the Versus multiplayer mode where the game may actually display zero credits earned for a Match bonus, though it does not ultimately affect anything. Players will still get an XP and credit boost from the match bonus. The team is also working on deploying a server side update in the near future to rectify any matching making issues players have been experiencing as well.

While many fans did not have the same view on Gears of War: Judgment as the other games in the franchise, Gears of War 4 is scoring well with critics and fans alike, making this newest entry appear to be a much needed return to form. Along with a story-driven campaign, players have a wealth of content at their finger tips with Versus multiplayer mixing both old and new game modes together and a revamped Horde 3.0 mode, which takes the familiar wave based combat and adds in new mechanics like a class system and fabricator tool to the mix.
