According to The Coalition head, the developer provides a great increase in the number of Gear Packs that Gears of War 4 Season Pass holders will receive at launch.
As the tightly-packed fall game release schedule approaches, gamers are gearing up for their most anticipated new titles. One of these titles, Gears of War 4, drops next month for Xbox One and PC gamers, and looks to be filled with plenty of gory adventure.
If the hype for Gears of War 4 wasn’t already high enough, Season Pass holders now have one more reason to be excited. According to a tweet from The Coalition studio head, Rod Fergusson, the Gears of War 4 Season Pass will now come with more goodies than originally planned.
Rather than just offering Season Pass holders six Gear Packs, players will now be rewarded with a 17-pack Starter Air Drop. That’s almost three times as many card packs than were previously announced. The Starter Air Drop will contain five Versus Boosters, five Horde Boosters, five Operations Packs, and two Elite Packs. All-in-all, players will walk away with an impressive 85 cards to aid them in their efforts in the game.
Starter Airdrop = 17 packs = 5 Horde Boosters, 5 Versus Boosters, 5 Operations Packs and 2 Elite Packs = 85 cards. It's a sampler platter 🙂— Rod Fergusson (@GearsViking) September 13, 2016
In his tweet, Fergusson called the Starter Air Drop a “sampler platter” of the plethora of Gear Cards coming in the full game. As players progress through the game, they will acquire in-game currency called Credits by playing Versus and Horde modes. They can then use those Credits to purchase Gear Cards, which offer player customization, emblems, weapon skins, Horde equipment and abilities, and Bounties that task players with unique challenges.
As with many titles in today’s gaming environment, Gears of War 4 players will also be able to obtain Gear Packs using real world currency. Fortunately, the team at The Coalition understand the potential controversy of microtransactions in multiplayer games, which is why the developer has stated firmly on the Gears of War website that “no cards have any gameplay impact for Versus Multiplayer.” With that in mind, Gear Packs will only contain cosmetics and Bounties for PvP Versus modes in Gears of War 4.
In addition to the Gear Packs, Season Pass owners will also receive two new DLC maps per month for 12 months and gain early access to maps, modes, and game variants ahead of everyone else. It seems The Coalition is looking to pack the Season Pass with plenty of goodies for the $50 price tag.
What do you think of The Coalition’s decision to expand the Season Pass Gear Packs? Are you planning to pick up the Gears of War 4 Season Pass?
Gears of War 4 is set to release on October 11, 2016 for PC and Xbox One.
