The Coalition Studio Head, Rod Fergusson, teases that more information on Gears of War 4 is coming real soon after responding to a fan question on Twitter.
Since revealing the first gameplay at E3 2015, Microsoft and The Coalition have gone somewhat dark regarding the highly anticipated Gears of War 4. While the gameplay contained many aspects that fans have come to expect, there were also a number of new elements such as what appeared to be a new enemy faction and two new lead characters. Fans have been seeking answers though both Microsoft and The Coalition have remained silent on anything related to Gears of War 4.
With not much to go on since the initial reveal last June, a fan looking for any sort of information took to Twitter to ask Coalition Studio Head Rod Fergusson what was going on directly. While Fergusson didn’t take the bait, he did manage to provide a bit of hope by replying with a short gif showing former lead character Marcus and his squad looking at a monitor with the word ‘soon’ on the screen.
While still relatively vague, fans can now rest assured that there is some sort of announcement coming in the near future. Unfortunately, it doesn’t clarify much of anything, so whether that means a new trailer, release date information, or something else entirely, is anyone’s guess. With Gamescom, PAX East, and GDC right around the corner, it stands to reason that Microsoft could use one of those shows to make the announcement.
The atmospheric gameplay demo did seem to indicate that Gears 4 will be returning to its roots by tapping into a more personal and mysterious type of feeling for the player. Helping that vibe will be the fact that 2 player coop is making a return, which has always been a staple of the series. Even the father of the Gears franchise and former Epic Games Design Director, Cliff “CliffyB” Bleszinski, is excited and believes fans will be more than satisfied after getting an inside scoop on the storyline for the upcoming game.
To help fans cope with waiting for the next game in the Gears franchise, Gears of War Ultimate Edition was released last year, serving as a remastered version of the very first game in the franchise. Not only was the game now sporting 60 frames per second and 1080p resolution, but fans who grabbed a copy before the end of 2015 were able to download every previous game in the franchise thanks to the recently added backward functionality ability of the Xbox One.
Gears of War 4 is tentatively scheduled for a late 2016 release for Xbox One.
