The Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta is quickly approaching with Bulletstorm Epic Edition purchasers getting in on the fun as soon as April 18, 2011 for the first week of the multiplayer beta’s 4-week tour of service. Players who preorder Gears of War 3 will be given access to the multiplayer beta starting April 25, 2011 and until the beta closes on May 15, 2011.
In light of the multiplayer beta’s impending release, Epic’s Rod Ferguson recently gave a sneak peek at the multiplayer beta while giving his own commentary.
Fergusson could certainly run live commentary for actual Gears of War 3 matches. In this trailer we get to see a bunch of goodies that are coming in Gears of War 3. In the opening sequence we see Cole revving the gold retro lancer, one of the unlockables from playing the beta. He then proceeds to show off the digger launcher execution, knocking the locust down and kicking his head off.
The next sequence features the new mode Capture the Leader, where the objective is to down and take hostage the opposing team’s player who has been designated leader. Holding this player for 30 seconds will result in a victory for that round. Other notable mentions here are the environment being destroyed as gunfire and explosions hit the walls as well as the tac-com view which gives the player a sort of x-ray view of the level and enemy locations.
The video also includes an effective showcase of the brutal one-shot heavy weapon, new to Gears 3, as well as few new physical moves demonstrated by Anya as she jumps over a counter to kick the opposing player hiding behind it, using him a a meatshield, before sticking him with a grenade send sending him into a cluster of enemies for a multi-kill. There are clearly lots of new features to master.
When the multiplayer beta dates were first revealed it was said that Gears of War 3 would be available for pre-order as of April 1, 2011. Suprisingly not an April Fools joke, Gears of War 3 is now available for pre-order in one of three flavors: Standard Edition, Special Edition, and Epic Edition. Surprisingly, no details have been given about what’s included with the Special and Epic Editions of the game, but price points of 79.99 and 149.99 respectively have been assigned.
It’s hard to be patient when the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta is looking this good, and we here at Game Rant will be definitely joining in on the fun. Are you going to be pre-ordering the game so you can enjoy three weeks of Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta or are you already in because of your Bulletstorm Epic Edition purchase?
