Activision just confirmed they will be airing a new Modern Warfare 3 teaser trailer during the NBA Finals next week. Not to be outdone, Epic Games has also revealed that they too will be revealing a trailer of their own for their highly anticipated Gears of War 3 during not only the NBA Finals here in North America but also the Champions League Final Match in Europe both on May 28, 2011.
The NBA finals last year were watched by an average 18.1 million viewers which should give Gears of War 3 plenty of exposure in North America. Champion's League is one of the most watched events in football (read: soccer) every year and this year's match-up of Barcelona vs. Manchester United should attract a large number of viewers worldwide. The 2009 Champions League Final beat out that year's Super Bowl with an estimated 109 million viewers tuning in to the event worldwide in comparison to the 106 million that watched the Super Bowl.
Gears of War 3 is already seeing a fair bit of success with over 1 million gamers participating the online beta, and also over 1 million pre-orders for the highly anticipated game already made 4 months before the game's release. This additional exposure could be enough to make Gears of War 3 set more records for pre-orders, which would be impressive considering its Xbox 360 exclusive launch.
To get gamers pumped about the impending reveal, and no doubt draw some additional viewers to both sporting events, Epic has released a brand new teaser trailer which shows a brief clip from the upcoming commercial trailer.

Gears of War 3 is going to be bringing players back into the shoes of Marcus Fenix as he and the rest of Delta Squadron continue their war against the Locust and the Lambent threats. As the trailer shows, Marcus' father, Adam Fenix, will play an important role in the coming game, especially as his reappearance draws Marcus directly back into the fight.
The finale in Marcus Fenix's story can be pre-ordered in 3 different flavors, with a Standard Edition, Special Edition, and Epic Edition for gamers, diehards, and collectors alike.
