Gears 5 has seen a number of fun cameos and guest appearances since its debut, adding Terminator: Dark Fate character packs last year as well as a Halo: Reach DLC containing playable versions of Kat and Emile. The game even added the option to play through a fully-voiced alternate campaign where WWE icon Batista takes over the role of Marcus Fenix, riffing on the actor's desire to play the video game icon in a live-action movie adaptation.

It seems Batista won't be the only professional wrestler to make the jump to Gears 5however, with Xavier Woods announcing that popular WWE tag team The New Day will officially be coming to the game. That means players can hop into multiplayer games as Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E very soon, as the trio chainsaw their way through Locusts while channeling the power of positivity.

As expected for the eccentric Raw Tag Team Champions, Woods, Kingston, and Big E will all don colorful, pink and blue COG armor resembling their in-ring attire within the WWE. Their models look incredibly authentic too, with the trio of stars all appearing near-identical to their real-life counterparts. Speaking on the crossover, Xavier Woods claims he's been "playing Gears of War for years (& reading the books)", so the opportunity to officially become part of the franchise is a dream come true. Although there's no exact date shared for when players can expect to march the iconic WWE tag team into battle, the models shown off by Woods appear to indicate the trio are well on their way to making their debuts.

As many will no doubt know, Xavier Woods (real name Austin Watson) has been a fixture in the gaming community in recent years, cultivating his YouTube channel UpUpDownDown into a major part of the Let's Play scene. He plays a number of major games on the show, roping in fellow WWE stars such as Tyler Breeze, Alexa Bliss, Cesaro, Adam Cole, and Sasha Banks. Of course, Kofi Kingston and Big E are massive staples of the show too, with the fellow professional wrestlers making appearances in a number of Woods' videos.

Being added to the roster of Gears 5 is just another achievement on the list for the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions, as they can now join Batista in slaying the Locust horde. The news follows Gears 5's Hollow Storm update, which added new characters, maps, and a series of PvE changes. The game was also recently enhanced for the Xbox Series X, boasting upgraded visuals and 120 FPS in multiplayer games.

Gears 5 is out now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
