Gears 5's contains an assortment of new dynamic, intuitive, and immersive maps; it also has a few from previous games in the series.

We've already learned that developer The Coalition will be releasing new maps as free add-ons for Gears 5. For now, we can enjoy twelve overwhelmingly detailed maps included with the base game. This is Gears 5: the 10 best multiplayer maps, ranked.

10 Bunker

Multiple bunkers can be found throughout this map. The entire area is in ruin except for the interior of the bunkers, which appear to show some aging. As a multiplayer map, it is one of the most fun because of its hilly environment and numerous shelters.

The Bunker map is unique, given its rusticly dull appearance. Beginners and advanced players can find enjoyment from the Bunker map. It is a difficult setting for Team Deathmatch given the lack of open areas and numerous obstructions. Bunker is one gritty map you can't miss!

9 Harbor

We haven't seen Harbor pop up too many times in multiplayer playlists. It is unknown why maps like Exhibit and Training Grounds are more common. Perhaps it depends on the game mode. We'll have to find out why and keep you posted.

A large tugboat overlooks the map, but it cannot be accessed. The boat adds to the immersion of Harbor. Interestingly enough, a lever can be found and pulled to activate a foghorn. What purpose this fog horn has is unknown, but it's a small nuance that we totally love.

8 Forge

Naturally, Forge contains a plethora of heavy machinery as part of a giant factory. An incinerator can be accessed, which can be used to burn victims caught inside of it. This map stands out for its large size and close-quarter action.

As detailed by gameatlas.com, "Once a critical arm of the COG's steel industry, this factory is now buried under a layer of sand. The incinerator can be activated from the control tower, obliterating anything caught inside." Fighting terrifying Locusts or fearless COG in this environment is deeply engaging.

7 Foundation

Foundation's long narrow middle section is ideal for Horde mode. Players can gun down enemies from the comfort of their spawn point. However, drones will be firing Longshot sniper rifles from a distance, so you'll have to venture out of your spawn point to defeat the wave.

An underground machine room offers minimal protection from later rounds but will help you in the early ones. Players can reach Horde's level 50 without issue in the Foundation map. The map is advantageous for those skilled with long-ranged weapons.

6 Vasgar

Vasgar makes for an excellent level for Horde because of its undercover areas and open areas for shooting enemies. In this red sandy level, you'll see remnants consisting of a crashed helicopter and other wreckage. Like in the single-player mode, Vasgar's red sand marks footprints as people walk through it.

The level of detail in the map is less compared to the campaign, but it could be related to performance issues. As of now, the map plays well. Overall, it's an outstanding map, and it's one that we'll be playing for a while.

5 District

For those who played the beta, they might remember this map. District brings you into the heart of an urban city where players can see attractions like a movie theatre. The movie theatre is covered in movie posters, including one notable poster with the title "Jace Stratton Frenzy."

This is a reference to Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Gears of War manga that some die-hard fans will get. Jace Stratton does not appear in Gears 5 aside from his name being referenced in the map District.

4 Reclaimed

Returning from Gears 4 is Reclaimed, only this time, the map is remade with tremendous detail. Objects like fruit and other foods have extraordinary detail. This farm appears to be active, or it may have been abandoned recently.

Reclaimed is ideal for Team Deathmatch since it offers minimal protection for players, allowing attackers to secure eliminations. It may be a difficult map to play on Horde, but that won't stop many from enjoying it anyway. Reclaimed is a Gears of War 4 highlight and a Gears 5 masterpiece.

3 Icebound

Icebound is a map new to Gears 5. As detailed by gameatlas.com, "Savvy players will use the ice to their advantage to secure kills and deny enemy flanking routes. The two towers either side of the lake offer strong positions, with a highly exposed pipeline route between them* if you dare to take it."

When an Icebound multiplayer match starts, players will either want to rush for the power weapons or sit back and wait. Icebound creates a scenario where the greedy fall into the icy lake or narrowly escape with a vengeance.

2 Training Grounds- Boot Camp

Those who decided to play the Boot Camp till the end (without exiting to the main menu) will recognize this map. Developer The Coalition didn't create the Training Grounds to make it a small part of the campaign. Lush green hills and a tower overlook Boot Camp. This map is an excellent location to test your skill in Gears 5.

It's a technologically advanced map and is impeccably detailed. An assortment of DeeBees robots can be spotted in a storage room. Plenty of cover points make matches slow-paced, but rewarding.

1 Exhibit

Close-quarter combat is at its best in the map Exhibit. Exhibit is dynamic because of lasers that activate during the match. Anyone caught in the path of the central lasers are eliminated. The exhibit is destructible, and it's a fine example of a Gears 5 map done right. Future Gears 5 maps should be more like Exhibit.

It provides a pleasant atmosphere blended with close-quarter action. Players can choose to pursue the perilous mid-range rush or try the winding halls which have limited vision. Exhibit is spectacular, and a hallmark Gears 5 map.
