Gears 5 will be available to the public in the coming days, with the game receiving a lot of praise by those who get their hands on it early. The Last of Us 2 director Neil Druckmann called it "Gorgeous," and most Gears 5 reviews highlighted the games break from tradition and involved, in-depth story. With this in mind, it seems a lot of people may be trying out the latest from The Coalition soon, and it's worth mentioning that it comes with a number of cool DLC characters.

These include various Halo characters and even the Terminator and Sarah Connor as a crossover promotion for the forthcoming movie, Terminator: Dark Fate. Redeeming these DLC characters is a rather straightforward process, but it can depend on how players procure Gears 5.

How to Get Terminator and Sarah Connor

To have access to the Terminator and Sarah Connor, players will have to pre-order the game digitally or physically, which will provide players with a code for the DLC. However, considering Gears 5 is on Xbox Game Pass, a number of players will not be purchasing the game directly. For those, there's a method as simple (but cheaper in a way) for those who get the game via Game Pass.

Simply put, those who download Gears 5 via a Game Pass subscription will get access to the content directly, but there's a time limit to this. Interested parties will need to download the game by September 16th to get the DLC, so even those who plan to put it off to catch up on their backlog or to focus on Borderlands 3 instead should go ahead and download it ahead of time to be sure to get the DLC.

How to Play as the Terminator or Sarah Connor

The DLC characters will be playable in most game modes such as Horde, Hive, and Versus. It's a basic process, but in most game modes, players will simply need to press X to select characters after the matchmaking progress has ended. Many players, of course, may want to beat the single-player campaign before checking out the other offerings, so here's how long it takes to beat Gears 5.

Gears 5 launches on PC and Xbox One on September 10, 2019.
