Over the past week, Gearbox Software has built an incredible amount of hype for its PAX East 2019 panel that will take place on March 28. Gearbox has already teased four games for the show through its Twitter, including the often-requested Borderlands 3, and now it appears it's teasing even more for PAX East 2019.

The official Gearbox twitter account has posted an image of what appears to be the Duke Nukem DLC for Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition. The Duke Nukem DLC was a pre-order bonus for the remastered Bulletstorm, but with it already out on PS4 and Xbox One, it's unclear exactly what Gearbox is teasing here.

There are a couple of different possibilities. One popular theory is that Gearbox is teasing a Nintendo Switch port of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, which would include the Duke Nukem DLC. If so, it seems as though PAX East 2019 may be especially exciting for Switch owners, as many expect to see some Borderlands Switch ports announced at the show as well.

Another possibility is that Gearbox is teasing new games in the Bulletstorm or Duke Nukem franchises. Bulletstorm was a financial failure at the time of its release, and it's unclear who exactly owns the rights to the IP. It's true that Gearbox published Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, but Epic Games developed it in conjunction with People Can Fly, and Electronic Arts published the original game. A new Duke Nukem would make more sense, but would be tricky to pull off for other reasons.

Gearbox owns the rights to the Duke Nukem IP, so it would certainly have less legal hurdles to deal with, but Duke Nukem Forever may have left a bad taste in fans' mouths. The game was notorious for its frequent delays and restarting development with multiple developers, until Gearbox finally released it to overwhelmingly negative reviews. It also failed to meet sales expectations, which could also keep Gearbox from investing in a brand new Duke Nukem project.

Whatever Gearbox Software is teasing with its latest tweet, fans won't have to wait much longer to find out more. Presumably, this game and all the other titles it's teased so far will be properly revealed at PAX East 2019 on March 28.
