Although there are no distinct characters on Gang Beast's roster, its jelly fighters can be dressed up in all sorts of different regalia. Much like the beans from Fall Guys or Among Us, their designs are ready-made to plaster all sorts of weird and whacky characters over for some primo marketability.

Unlike those other games though, the costumes in Gang Beasts do give advantages & disadvantages in gameplay. For one thing, all the costumes have different hitboxes, making it harder/easier for opponents to grab. However, it goes a little deeper than that, as some costumes even give minor boosts to attacks, they can help or hurt special moves, or work as a solid defense from those incoming.

10 3D Glasses

Gang Beasts Cyberpunk Gangster Outfit

While not the most covering costume, the 3D glasses do give some small advantages. Their main advantage is, of course, looking like a radical dude who doesn't get phased by any of the fighting around them.

More than that, though, the 3D glasses have the ability to block certain incoming attacks. It's a small area, but if a dropkick or a punch lands in the face area around the eyes, its effect will likely be negated. This allows players to stand there all cool as their opponent's blows don't even phase them.

9 Cape

Gang Beasts Caped Luchadore Outfit

What would a superhero be without their cape? Of course, the characters in Gang Beasts are far from superheroes, but who knows what they get up to in their off time? Either way, putting on a cape is sure to give them the look.

It gives a slight tactical advantage, too, though. As it hangs off the back, it makes that area of the body extremely difficult to grab. Opponents will likely end up grabbing the cape instead, which can be easily slipped out of.

8 Chef's Apron

Gang Beasts Chef's Outfit

From superhero to chef, these jelly fighters seem to have unique lives outside of their beat 'em up adventures. The chef's apron offers a similar advantage to that of the cape, as what else is an apron but a cape for the front of the body?

Much like the cape, the chef's apron makes the character much more difficult to grab. This item protects the front, though, which makes it slightly more useful, as grabs the most devastating grabs usually come from the front.

7 SWAT Gear

Gang Beasts SWAT Outfit

SWAT Gear may not be the first thing one thinks of for a fighting game, but wailing on opponents haphazardly makes this gear perfect for the game. It's not too hard to imagine the protective properties that the SWAT Gear holds. It's specifically designed to be as protective as possible from all sorts of incoming attacks. Although, it's not quite strong enough to hold back the full force of a jelly fighter's attack.

The SWAT Gear is a little fickle in how much protection it offers. Some attacks from enemies will have their impact softened if they strike the main parts of the gear, but only some attacks. A regular punch will likely bounce off, but a headbutt will still hit with some force.

6 Walrus Head

Gang Beasts Walrus Outfit

The Walrus costume is technically one of the best, but it, unfortunately, isn't available for everyone. Tt's PC exclusive, which might disappoint console players. On top of that, it was only available to those who purchased the Yogscast charity DLC during the 2015 Jingle Jam. This is certainly a costume that wouldn't be seen in any traditional fighting game.

Though it's unlikely anyone else will ever get a hold of this costume, for the lucky few that do have it, they've got a powerful advantage. The Walrus Head has double power on its headbutts, which is incredible. It means that any headbutt is virtually guaranteed to KO whoever it makes contact with.

5 Pirate Outfit

Gang Beasts Pirate Outfit

Pirates are very much "in" at the moment in gaming. A few notable TV shows seem to have made the gaming world Pirate-obsessed for a brief period. Gang Beasts got there first, though, as this costume has been in the game for years.

The Pirate outfit set will be of use to anyone looking for a defensive advantage in the game too. The shoulder pads on the jacket make being grabbed and lifted there almost impossible. Additionally, it's not the most robust of costumes and can occasionally glitch slightly, causing a KO on the opponent.

4 Long Beards

Gang Beasts Bearded Medic

There are several costumes in Gang Beasts that feature long beards on the face of the player-model. These are extremely useful in combat. For one thing, their hitbox can sometimes be big enough to save players from falling through small gaps. It could also get caught on said gap and save the player that way.

It is also a great defensive costume. The power of the face-fuzz turns out to be stronger than SWAT gear as it will half any damage taken from striking it. It doesn't have the widest coverage, but it means that about half of the head will be cushioned from forceful impacts.

3 Rhino

Gang Beasts Rhino Outfit

While the cute onesie may seem like a bit of a joke, this outfit is far from it. A wild animal that can charge with great speed and strike with great force, the rhino is all about power. This costume has very similar functionality to the walrus head, except this has the advantage of being available to more than a small handful of players.

In truth, most of the animal-head costumes will give a boost to headbutting power. The cat & fox costumes give very strong headbutts too, but the rhino just beats them as the strongest. Even though it is technically worse, if used effectively, it will have the same impact as the walrus head.

2 Trench Coat

Gang Beasts Hobo Outfit

Trench Coats look pretty cool at the best of times. Admittedly, it might not be the most incredible looks for a buff jelly baby, but that's beside the point. What's even cooler about trench coats in Gang Beasts is the great defensive capabilities they have.

Like the cape & chef's apron, the looser material makes the player harder to grab & be picked up. Except instead of just covering one side, the trench coat covers the whole body. On top of that, even when the opponent finally does get a lift, the size and shape of the coat make going over barriers and the like a lot more difficult, and players who use it are sure to be infuriating to fight.

1 Burger Hat

Gang Beasts Burger Hat

Who doesn't love burgers? Whether meat-free or overflowing with meat, there is perhaps no purer expression of joy in food than chowing down on a classic burger. The food item is so popular that sometimes, Gang Beast's jelly fighters will wear one on their heads.

This is arguably the best defensive attire in the game. Its bulk and surface area make being grabbed in the head area almost impossible, something which is a huge boon in a game all about just that. Additionally, it's big enough that it could quite easily save players from falling through some gaps, keeping them in the fight as long as possible.
