One gamer has discovered that their local GameStop still has a picture of Mario from Super Mario Galaxy in its windows. While Super Mario Galaxy was released over a decade ago, the store has yet to feel the need to take it down for whatever reason.

While it might be hard to believe, Super Mario Galaxy was first launched in 2007. Released for the Nintendo Wii, the game sent Mario into outer space where he was tasked with traveling to various galaxies and recovering Power Stars to save Princess Peach. The title became popular with many fans and spawned a sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2, several years later. While the original Super Mario Galaxy received another release as part of Super Mario 3D All-Stars in 2020, it would seem that most of the advertisements for the 2007 game are no longer around. However, one gamer discovered the opposite at their local GameStop.

It’s not uncommon for GameStop stores to put advertisements for popular games on their windows. However, one TikTok user known as cafebtw has documented a strange instance in which their local GameStop has still not taken down an ad for Super Mario Galaxy. In the brief video, the user showed the massive picture attached to the front windows. The promotional image for the game featured Mario next to a Luma flying through space.

In addition to revealing the advertisement, cafebtw explained the odd situation behind the picture. According to the user, the GameStop with the Super Mario Galaxy promotional image was located in California. They noted that this was the store they typically shopped at when looking for new games and said they always appreciated the image of Mario and the Luma. Unfortunately, cafebtw revealed that the Super Mario Galaxy advertisement had started deteriorating, meaning it is uncertain how long it will remain on the windows at the front of the building.

Since cafebtw posted this unusual discovery to TikTok, a number of Nintendo fans have taken notice. In fact, the video has received more than 10.2K likes, evidencing that many fans have fond memories of the space-themed Super Mario game. In addition, several other gamers in the comments claimed that their local GameStops had old advertisements for classic games. For example, one user said their store featured a promotional image for the 2007 Wii game Sonic and the Secret Rings.

It is interesting to see some classic Nintendo games, such as Super Mario Galaxy, continue to be remembered in strange ways, such as through old advertisements in GameStop windows. While cafebtw did not reveal why the promotional image remained on display at this store, many gamers are appreciative of it. Hopefully, the Super Mario Galaxy advertisement stays in the window for those that enjoy being reminded of this particular Super Mario adventure.

Super Mario Galaxy is available on Wii and Wii U and is playable on Switch via Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
