The consistent supply issues plaguing the games industry – and other industries – have made it difficult to pin down PS5 consoles. While there are methods out there that make it easier to find a PS5, it still takes a fair bit of luck to lock one down. Luckily, fans will soon have another chance to get a PS5 console from GameStop, though it will depend on their location as the consoles are only coming to select cities.

On October 29, GameStop will be running an in-store PS5 bundle event in select US cities, giving fans another chance to pick up one of the consoles. To participate, potential buyers will need to live in, or travel to, Seattle, San Francisco, Nashville, Raleigh, Detroit, or Philadelphia. Currently, the GameStop lists stores that will have the consoles based on zip code, which visitors can use to plot out where to find the consoles.

Unfortunately, the page makes no mention of how many bundles will be available. Fans should also keep in mind that “bundles” implies that buyers won’t be able to pick up just a system, either. Fans will most almost certainly also have to get the console, a game or two, or perhaps an additional accessory. Therefore, expect to pay at least a hundred dollars above the $499 base price of the console, plus tax.

This is an in-store shopping event, too, so don’t expect any online drops for the consoles. While it’s an inconvenience to have to travel to a physical location for a console, it’s one of the most reliable ways to get one. That makes the time investment worth it, as it also means that buyers don’t have to compete directly with bots that gobble up the supply.

While it may not seem like it, the PS5 is rapidly approaching its first anniversary. However, the console remains elusive due to an ongoing supply shortage. Various components have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which has strained global supply lines. The issue sees no signs of meaningfully improving. There’s competition for components between industries too, as computer chips are used for everything from consoles to cars.

For those that are lucky enough to be in an area with a restock, it’s worth giving the physical method a try. PlayStation Direct is still the most reliable way to get a PS5 console, but this is definitely a good alternative for those that haven’t managed to get an email through that method yet.
