The PlayStation 5 was officially released in November 2020, but many aspiring customers still don’t have their hands on the console. The PS5 has been out of stock since its launch almost two years ago, and the new stock gets sold out immediately. This has resulted in a situation where some customers have resorted to buying a PS5 from scalpers at much higher prices.

Fans interested in buying a PS5 without interacting with scalpers have a great opportunity to do so by visiting their nearest GameStop store this week. GameStop has given a definitive date for this restock event, and some gamers will be able to get their hands on a PS5 as soon as tomorrow.

This GameStop PS5 restock will give fans a chance to purchase the console after visiting their nearest store on August 19 and 20 in the US. Only Pro members will be eligible to get a PS5 on August 19 and everyone else will have to wait till August 20. The event page confirms that only PS5 bundles will be available as a part of this restock, so users will have to pay for the full bundle even if they don’t need all the items. These bundles generally consist of games, additional controllers, and other PS5 accessories, such as the camera or the headset. Finally, the event page mentions that quantities will be limited.

A GameStop in-store PS5 restock event took place last month on July 16 and customers had a choice between two console bundles. Both included an additional Galactic Purple DualSense controller, a DualSense charging station, and PlayStation Plus Essential subscription worth $60. One bundle came with a copy of Call of Duty: Vanguard while the other included a Pulse 3D Wireless Headset. Fans can expect to see similar bundles when visiting their nearest GameStop store this week.

Sony had earlier confirmed that it’s trying to increase PS5 supply for the holiday season. This information comes from an earnings review in which Sony mentioned that software sales and gameplay engagement were down. Sony then mentioned that it wants to see an improvement in user engagement in the second half of the fiscal year, especially considering all the big games coming later in 2022. Sony plans on doing so by increasing PS5 supply and promoting the new PlayStation Plus tiers, which are now available worldwide and give users a choice between three options.
