Despite the fact that Sony did not attend E3 2019, there were still plenty of games to get excited about at this year's expo. Indeed, fans were treated to the announcement of a myriad of new games, and they also got a closer look at some of the most highly anticipated forthcoming titles. While it is difficult to say exactly which of these titles ended up on top, GameStop has given some clues on the matter by revealing the games that were most pre-ordered during E3 2019.

At the top of the GameStop list for most pre-ordered E3 2019 game sits Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward's upcoming entry in the legendary franchise. While the excitement surrounding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was already high prior to its presence at E3, the information provided during the expo seemingly pushed this even further, securing the game's position as leader of the pack.

Just below this hyperrealistic war game sits two titles that are on nearly the opposite end of the spectrum: Pokemon Sword and Shield. There was quite a bit of Game Freak's forthcoming Pokemon games shown during the E3 2019 Nintendo Treehouse Live streams, and while Pokemon Sword and Shield were the most disliked games of E3 2019, they were still the second most pre-ordered titles at GameStop during the expo.

Rounding out the top three from GameStop's list is Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Square Enix started off its E3 2019 press conference with a bang, showing off the Final Fantasy 7 Remake combat system, Tifa's design, and more. It seems that this in-depth look at the highly anticipated RPG worked for fans, as it pushed the game into the upper echelon of the titles that were pre-ordered during E3 2019.

The rest of the games included in the GameStop E3 2019 pre-order list include Borderlands 3, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Cyberpunk 2077, which had an excellent showing at the expo with the reveal that Keanu Reeves would be in Cyberpunk 2077. The full list is as follows:

  1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  2. Pokemon Sword and Shield
  3. Final Fantasy 7 Remake
  4. Cyberpunk 2077
  5. Borderlands 3
  6. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
  7. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
  8. Gears 5
  9. Super Mario Maker 2
  10. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled

While there are not many surprises amidst the list of the most pre-ordered games of E3 2019, some fans may still find it interesting to see them collected and ranked. Additionally, the diversity of titles making the GameStop list certainly paints an intriguing picture of what the most popular titles may be into the end of 2019 and beyond.
