As the calendar inches closer to the Summer, stores are starting to line up their Memorial Day sales. GameStop has started its own by handing out some discounts on several popular Nintendo Switch titles. The GameStop sale went live today and will be valid through May 31, and while it isn't limited to Nintendo Switch titles, they happen to have some of the largest markdowns.

In a rare instance, multiple first-party Nintendo games have some great discounts. Among these are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Each game is marked down $20 from their original prices of $59.99. Whether it's an open-world adventure or smooth-flowing platforming, each of these titles has been widely praised in their own genres. Nintendo games such as these only see price drops from time to time, and this appears to be one of those rare instances.

A few other notable titles include Persona 5 Strikers, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The former two have been marked down $20, and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is down to $19.99. Players will find a couple of excellent RPGs in Persona 5 Strikers and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, or XCOM-inspired strategy from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. While these games aren't first-party, they still tend to hang around full price, with the exception being Kingdom Battle.

While these aren't the only deals on Nintendo Switch titles that GameStop is offering, these are some of the better discounts that have been advertised. For even steeper discounts, players can purchase pre-owned versions and take advantage of the pre-owned deal that provides customers a free game when they buy two. While this is a common deal found at GameStop, it usually isn't in cooperation with a Nintendo Switch title sale.

With a new color for the Nintendo Switch Lite releasing not long ago, this sale should give gamers plenty of new options to build up their Switch library fast. The sale runs through the end of Memorial Day, so players will need to act fast. Shoppers can also take advantage of free standard shipping for orders over $34.99, and if two games are purchased, most will likely meet this threshold. With some hopeful time off approaching, and perhaps some first gatherings since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, new handheld gaming options from this GameStop sale could help liven up travel.
