Sun Haven is a brand-new Steam game that clearly takes its cues from ConcernedApe's Stardew Valley, but with some distinct features to help it stand apart from its inspiration. Developed by Pixel Sprout Studios, Sun Haven has been available in early access for a couple of years now, but just recently enjoyed its full 1.0 release. Sun Haven is currently available at 20% off its usual price and has "Very Positive" ratings from Steam users.

Since Stardew Valley exploded in popularity this past decade, many games have attempted to copy its formula with varying degrees of success. Typically, these Stardew Valley-style games offer the same basic gameplay as their inspiration but with a twist. Sun Haven is no different, marrying Stardew Valley-like farming and relationship mechanics with action-RPG elements and 8-player co-op.

Sun Haven's action-RPG elements sees players battling monsters, completing quests, and leveling up their character through a skill tree when they're not busy farming, fishing, and romancing the townsfolk. Potentially, this could help Sun Haven appeal to gamers who prefer a bit more action than Stardew Valley offers, and may open it up to a wider audience. The support for 8-player co-op may also draw more people to Sun Haven that may typically avoid the genre, but that remains to be seen.

Any Stardew Valley fans intrigued by Sun Haven should note that, as of the time of this writing, the game is only available on PC. There are plans to release a Nintendo Switch port of Sun Haven, and while it was once meant to launch alongside the game's 1.0 release, it still has yet to materialize. It's unclear when exactly Nintendo Switch gamers will get the chance to play Sun Haven, but hopefully they don't have to wait all that much longer to try it out on their platform of choice.

As for Sun Haven coming to PlayStation or Xbox, nothing to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing. Stardew Valley's massive success is what helped it expand to more platforms, so Sun Haven may need to be a hit before the developers can justify bringing it to other consoles. For now, anyone that wants to play it will have to do so on PC or wait for the Nintendo Switch version to release at some point down the line.

In the meantime, there are many other games like Stardew Valley that fans may want to look into while they wait for ConcernedApe's next game, Haunted Chocolatier.

Sun Haven is available now for PC and is in development for Nintendo Switch.
