Superhero games, such as games in the Batman: Arkham series, have commonly been associated with a question toward players. This question asks if the game makes players feel like the superhero character that they are playing as. Fans are able to feel most like Batman, for instance, when certain resources and mechanics are provided in gameplay.

Rocksteady Studios has incorporated defining mechanics and gadgets into the Batman: Arkham series that emulate Batman's experiences. Many logistics and explanations could go into why someone feels more immersed into one superhero game over another, such as having to patiently perch on a vantage point and strategize a way to dispatch a room of enemies silently. Gamers still enjoy pondering this question with regard to their favorite superhero games, and one fan has decided to ask others for their opinions on the Batman: Arkham series.

The fan, supercommandomain, has created a poll which asks fans which of the franchise's four mainline installments made them feel like Batman the most. Between Batman: Arkham AsylumBatman: Arkham CityBatman: Arkham Origins, and Batman: Arkham Knight, there are a lot of significant moments to choose from. At the time of this writing, supercommandomain's poll is currently sitting at 1.4k votes with Batman: Arkham Knight taking a strong lead at 759 of those votes.

Though DirectorDennis suggests that Batman: Arkham Asylum "feels the most old school Batman," they add that Batman: Arkham Knight is more immersive "because you have pretty much his entire arsenal." Batman: Arkham Knight, being the third and final installment in Rocksteady's series, offers a natural progression in terms of the gadgets and resources that players have access to. Though Batman: Arkham Knight's Batmobile has been a point of contention with many fans, it grants players an entirely new mechanic that restructures the game and furthers the player's experience as Batman. With more gadgets, items, and lore that relates to The Caped Crusader available, fans may be able to connect with the character easier.

Despite Batman: Arkham Origins currently coming in last place in supercommandomain's poll, many fans have explained why they think it stands out as the best "Batman simulator." Matches_Malone77's opinion states that Batman: Arkham Origins made them feel most like Batman since players are "able to go to the Batcave and talk to Alfred" in-game. Another fan, johnchewy82, makes an interesting point in saying that its implementation of the Batcave closely represents that of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, where the Batcave is less of a bat-laden grotto and more of a spacious storage compartment.

Fans also point out that Batman: Arkham Origins placed heavy emphasis on the character's World's Greatest Detective moniker, which always pleases fans of the hero. Either way, it is interesting to observe discussions of each game, and how well each of them simulates a fraction of Batman's crime-fighting antics.

Batman: Arkham Knight is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
