It's always nice to get a reminder, especially in the form of a meme, that there are good people in the world who can be brought together through gaming. A photo currently circulating through social media is reminding people of our collective humanity. People are more money-conscious now, and the used console market has been strong for a while, with consoles like the Wii U finding new life, so no wonder people noticed a post about one.

The r/gaming community is fawning over a note found with a used gaming console. It reads, "I hope you treat this console well. Its memory has been wiped, but I still have memories of all the good times/games that I had/played with it. [...] TREAT IT WELL! Love, Solstice (the last owner)." The hand-written note is a wholesome reminder of games past, demonstrating nostalgia, hope for the future, and warm regard for strangers that people really need right now.

What actually makes this so much more hilarious is the image is actually a repost from 2019. The original was posted by user jeremyjayg, who titled it "I found this taped to the bottom of a used Wii U I recently got." Perhaps Nintendo should respond next, and remind gamers the part they played in this. It is, however, a great time for the image to resurface. The world is in a pretty hectic state right now, and so anything uplifting is great to see online.

Within hours of the first repost, the picture appeared on several other subreddits under various usernames, from r/aww to r/IRLEasterEggs. Going back in time to the original post, top comments ranged from wholesome to hilarious. On Reddit, tokki32 said, "You know your pre-owned console came from a caring owner." User _Lieutenant_Lettuce_ wrote, "You fool it said the owner only! This is forbidden knowledge! You've doomed us all!"

GameStop employee LunarSpoons said they would not have touched the note. "The world needs a little more magic in it," they wrote. "I couldn't live with myself if I was the one quashing it." An EB Games employee, LostSpireGames, agreed, "I would second this."

Hopefully, Solstice is out there, enjoying the best games on the latest consoles.
