Gameloft are known for being "inspired" by other blockbuster titles in the gaming sphere - Dungeon Hunter (Diablo) and their upcoming mobile MMO, Order & Chaos Online (World of Warcraft) for example. There next title, however, might just take the cake on the subject of inspiration within the Gameloft catalog.

Later this month Gameloft will be releasing a title, for iOS and Android devices, based off of the upcoming movie, Fast Five.

Fast Five, the fifth installment of Fast and the Furious, stars the likes of Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The movie's storyline will, predictably, place the racers on the wrong side of the law and the game will similarly follow suit.

It seems as though Fast Five: The Game will also follow suit of one of last year's favored racing titles, Split/Second. Aside from being an enjoyed racing game, Split/Second's original feature was the ability to cause destruction to the environment via different triggers to aid in the success of your race. Fast Five appears as if it will be doing the same.

The reason this may seem like much more of a knock off than Gameloft's other titles is because Split/Second also has a mobile version of their game. Their mobile version co-launched with the full game last year, mirroring the features in it's beefier version.

Most of Gameloft's titles are viewed with a smirk when the similarities to successful games are evident, but when said similarities are from a game that is available in the same space, it raises an eyebrow. Developing a title that draws from another and is featured on a separate platform is almost complimentary to the original, but publishing it on the same platform to directly compete is another story.

It is known that Gameloft has licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine to develop a handful of titles. It is unconfirmed if they will be developing mobile games for current IPs or will be using the technology to build original content. If it's indeed original content, we'll have to wait and see if there is any evidence of their infamous inspirational vision.

Fast Five: The Game will go live on iOS and Android app stores on April 28th, the movie hits theaters on April 29th.
