San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is almost upon us, and that means it's time for all the biggest news and announcements in comics, film, television, anime, and gaming -- which is gaining a larger presence each year. This year looks to continue the trend, with companies such as Microsoft, Capcom, MTV Games, Disney Interactive, and EA making appearances at the illustrious popular arts convention.

Beginning on Thursday, the event opens up with panels for Dead Rising 2, Halo: Reach, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and a panel detailing Capcom's plans for the rest of the year. Hopefully we'll find out about Capcom Vs. Namco.

On top of new details for these previously announced games, we'll also get our first glimpse of 38 Studios' Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning. Todd McFarlane is acting as executive art director on the game. Now, when I heard about this game, I was actually quite excited.  It remains to be seen though, how a company started by a Major League Baseball player, Curt Schilling, will fare when compared to companies such as Microsoft and Blizzard. Personally, I'm wondering how much experience someone from the MLB would have running a gaming company. We'll just have to see what happens when it comes time for the panel.

On Friday, the focus will be on Twisted Metal, Dead Space 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Fable 3, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Gears Of War 3. Showing some of the most anticipated games on the gaming horizon, there will be tons to see.

You can be sure that we'll have news straight from the Gears Of War 3 panel, as Cliff Bleszinski will no doubt surprise fans with new information regarding the ultra-violent title. Without a doubt, this should be one of the biggest days of the event for gamers.

Saturday there will be panels for Rock Band 3, Dance Central, Red Faction: Armageddon, Epic Mickey and Guild Wars 2. While these panels may not be as big as the ones taking place on Friday, there should still be lots to keep your eyes on.

Frankly, any chance I can get to see the Rock Band Pro Guitar in action is fine by me. As a guitarist, I'm extremely interested to see the peripheral. Also, as a huge fan of Red Faction: Guerrilla, I can't wait to see what they do with the sequel, and get a glimpse at the insane amounts of destruction that will be possible.

As with all other conventions, Sunday is generally the day where everything descends into a sort of lull compared to the previous three days. As in previous years, Sunday is set aside for the show's more kid-friendly content, so it's no surprise that the big games we'll see are Marvel's Super Hero Squad Online and LEGO Universe. Sure, they may not be as big as, say, Halo: Reach or Gears Of War 3, but you never know -- they could hold some pleasant surprises.

On top of these panels, other games that we can expect to see at this year's Comic-Con include Dragon Age 2, Metroid: Other M, and many other surprises.
