By | 1 year ago

In this week’s Game Rant Open Discussion, we’re chatting about a new Fallout 4 live-action trailer, the success of the Star Wars Battlefront beta, and more.

Welcome to this week’s Game Rant Open Discussion. For those new to the site, our weekly Open Discussion is a place where readers can come together and chat about whatever topics they desire.

To get things started, we’ll cover a few of the biggest news items from the last week, including the Destiny King’s Fall raid hard mode release date, a new Fallout 4 trailer, some Black Ops 3 news, and more.

Destiny King’s Fall Raid Hard Mode Release Date

Destiny: This is the Light Level for the King's Fall Raid - Oryx

Bungie has revealed that Destiny’s King’s Fall raid hard mode will launch on October 23rd for The Taken King expansion owners. The original release date was set for October 30th, which means Guardians will gain access a week earlier than expected.

The news will be a welcome change for many Destiny players who have already completed King’s Fall on normal and are waiting anxiously for a chance to take on Oryx and his minions at a greater difficulty. It’ll be interesting to see how different hard mode is from normal mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Brings Back ‘Gun Game’

In a move that’s sure to make many Call of Duty fans happy, Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is bringing back the popular multiplayer mode ‘Gun Game’.

For the uninitiated, ‘Gun Game’ pits players against each other with the same beginning weapon – usually a simple pistol – and provides them better weapons with each kill they get. The first player to advance to the final stage and get a kill with the last weapon wins the match.

‘Gun Game’ gained notoriety in the first Black Ops game, and made a big return in Black Ops 2, so it’s really not too surprising to see the mode return again for Black Ops 3.

New Live Action Fallout 4 Trailer Released

As we near the release of Fallout 4, developer Bethesda is hard at work building hype for the post-apocalyptic game. In that vein, the developer released a new live-action trailer this week that gives gamers a taste of Fallout 4’s environment and action.

The video features Dion’s ‘The Wanderer’, giving it an ironically hopeful feel as the protagonist fights off enemies and journeys through the barren wasteland that was once a bustling Boston, Massachusetts.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Taxman Targets Players Who Used Exploits

Witcher 3 Taxman

Continuing their creative method of combating exploits in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the folks at CD Projekt RED introduced a new Taxman character that targets players who have used exploits in the past. The Taxman goes after those players who used either the cow skin glitch or pearl harvesting exploits to gain money.

Prior to the Taxman, the developer tried to stop cowhide exploiters by sending a massive monster at players who used the glitch early in the game. Unlike that monster, though, players can escape the Taxman unscathed by answering his questions properly.

Star Wars Battlefront Beta Hosts Over 9 Million Players

This past week, gamers had the opportunity to try out Electronic Arts’ upcoming Star Wars Battlefront on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. According to EA, the open beta sported more than 9 million players in just six days.

It’s safe to say the beta was a success for the gaming giant and will likely drive strong sales when the game releases next month. Hopefully, the developer is able to remove the few bugs players experienced before the game releases.
