Game Rant’s Favorite Games of 2015

Game Rant Game Staff Picks 2015

As 2015 came to an end, we polled our writers to see what their favorite games were from the year. Naturally, most of us are big fans of award winning games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Fallout 4, but others found great joy in some less-known or awarded games.

Life is Strange, Dying Light, Lego Dimensions, and Pillars of Eternity were just a few of the games that made our list. 2015 was definitely full of great games in all genres, giving gamers plenty of options when it comes to gaming.

Most Anticipated Games of 2016

The Division Times Square Solo

As we begin a new year, it goes without saying that we’re excited for the lineup of games planned for 2016. As great as 2015 was for gaming, it looks like 2016 will be even bigger, with many original and compelling games set to arrive throughout the year.

Some of the games we’re looking forward to the most are Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV, and The Last Guardian. With so many highly-anticipated games set to release this year, it will be difficult finding time to play them all.

Far Cry Primal Receives M Rating

The Far Cry series is known for its compelling storytelling, interesting characters, violent action, and occasional nudity. Naturally, gamers wouldn’t expect much of that to change in the upcoming Far Cry Primal, which has received a Mature rating from the ESRB for violence, nudity, and sexual scenes.

Set at the beginning of the Mesolithic period, gamers will use arrows, spears, and clubs to kill enemies and animals in the harsh world. Additionally, gamers can expect to see dead bodies in various states of mutilation, along with topless female characters.

Far Cry Primal is expected to release on February 23, 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One, and March 1, 2016 for PC.

Fallout: New Vegas Completed in 20 Minutes

While many gamers are focused on Fallout 4, one Fallout fan focused his efforts on Fallout: New Vegas, completing the game in an impressive 20 minutes and 47 seconds. The speed run was completed by a gamer known as Kungkobra, and represents a new world record for the game.

To do the run, Kungkobra created a character with high Charisma and Speech skills to talk his way through any situation. Additionally, he used a female character to take advantage of the Black Widow perk that opened extra dialogue options.

Besides the conversation skills, Kunkobra used a few other unique techniques to quickly cripple enemies and blast through the game. It’ll likely be a while before any other gamer breaks the new standing record.

According to a new rumor from a well-known Microsoft blogger, the tech giant is planning to introduce a new smaller, digital-only Xbox One console late next year. The new lightweight Xbox One would cost less than the current Xbox One, which runs $350.

Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed the rumor, but chances are if it’s true, gamers will hear from Microsoft soon. It’ll be interesting to see how well the console is received if Microsoft does release it.
