It's been a blisteringly long week of video game news, updates, and more, with Xbox's surprise release of Halo Infinite multiplayer and a lot more filling out the last seven days. That gives Cam and Anthony a ton to talk about on Game Rant Arcade Episode 48.
First up, there have been more updates on Activision Blizzard. CEO Bobby Kotick was reportedly aware of sexual harassment abuse allegations for years, even participating in some of the behavior. Kotick reportedly wrote the infamous Fran Townsend email despite later criticizing it as tone-deaf, and played a role in keeping employees complicit in sexual harassment and abuse on the Activision Blizzard payroll. Games media, Activision Blizzard employees, and more are currently calling for his removal as CEO.
Additionally, Take-Two Interactive is pulling GTA Trilogy mods. While the company claims that modders are distributing illicit copies of the trilogy, modders argue that their work requires players to own the original games. It's the setup for a legal battle that could have interesting ramifications for the rest of the games industry.
Next up, Saints Row has been delayed from February 2022 to August 2022, giving it some more time in the oven. Outriders has received a big new update and the promise of more content in the future, but it's unclear if that will have enough of an effect to pull players back into it. And finally, The Game Awards 2021 nominees have been revealed, with some interesting picks being up for awards this time around.
