It's time once again for an episode of Game Rant Arcade. With October now come and gone, the industry is now marching towards some of the biggest game releases of the year. There's still a bit of a lull as of recording, but the next month or so will have some absolutely massive games to discuss. In the meantime, there's also been some big news for Cameron and Anthony to talk about.
First and foremost, Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 have been delayed. Blizzard cited input from new leadership as one of the reasons, with the two games now slated to release after 2022. It's a massive pushback for the duo and comes at a time when the perception of Activision Blizzard is particularly sour due to the ongoing sexual harassment and gender discrimination lawsuit.
Additionally, Square Enix has called Marvel's Avengers disappointing, though it is ditching its microtransactions. It's a good move for Marvel's Avengers, but the move does raise questions about its future. While there's still Spider-Man content slated for later this month, it's unclear what it would take to really save it.
Next up, Take-Two interactive paid $53 million to cancel an unannounced game. While it's unclear what the project was, speculation has pointed to everything from Bully to a new IP. The project was reportedly coming from Mafia 3 developer Hangar 13, though little else is known about it.
In weirder news, Warner Bros. is supposedly making a Smash Bros.-style fighting game called Multiversus. Screenshots, characters, and more have leaked, with the new game likely to be announced at some point in the future. It's an interesting blend of IP, as the project will supposedly include everything from Shaggy to Gandalf.
Wrapping up the news, Assassin's Creed Infinity isn't free to play. The internet is torn on whether or not its a good thing, but it will likely still be a while before fans know for sure. At the very least, Infinity will include familiar elements, which is a good sign.
