Among the many memorable characters from the Game of Thrones series is Lord Varys, the devious Master of Whisperers who seemed to know everything about everyone in the Seven Kingdoms. Now, photos of actor Conleth Hill that were taken six years after the series' end prove that he is actually far from hairless.

Varys was known not only for his savvy for information but also for his distinct look, which consisted of a bald head and floor-length robes. Hill, the Irish actor who portrayed Varys in Game of Thrones, did such a remarkable job with the role that many fans were convinced he is bald (and even a eunuch) in real life.

In reality, Hill, now 57, sports a full head of hair, and on occasion, a beard to match. In previous interviews, he explained that he was forced to shave his head before every season of Game of Thrones, which was initially tough for him because he had never shaved his head in his life before. He even said it brought tears to his eyes a few times. Of course, he eventually got used to it, and it went on to become an iconic part of Varys' look. Most fans can't imagine Varys looking any other way, which is why they found Hill unrecognizable in his recent photos.

After Game of Thrones ended in 2019, Hill went on to star a number of other projects, including Dublin Murders, Vienna Blood, Holding, and the upcoming Magpie Murders. In all of these roles, he wasn't required to shave his head, so a lot of viewers didn't even realize it was him on-screen. Nowadays, Hill keeps his hair long and silver, just like Daenerys Targaryen.

With the House of the Dragon set to premiere sometime in the next few months, many Game of Thrones fans have been wondering whether Hill's Varys will be making a surprise appearance in the show. Given that the prequel is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, it's unlikely that they'll be seeing the Master of Whisperers showing up any time soon.

Additionally, should HBO decide to reboot the Game of Thrones series, there wouldn't be a chance for Hill to reprise the role since Varys ultimately saw his end thanks to Daenerys' dragons in the last season. For now, fans can catch Hill in the crime thriller Magpie Murders, where he plays Alan Conway, a mystery writer.

Game of Thrones is now streaming on HBO Max.
