In just a few short years, Telltale Games has become a household name among gamers. Although they've been around for over a decade, it wasn't until they released the first season of their episodic Walking Dead game that gamers as a whole took notice.
Since the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead released in 2012, Telltale has continued to deliver incredibly popular games that feed off and expand on the stories of other television series and games. The developer's Game of Thrones game, for example, has garnered a lot of attention and praise from critics and gamers alike. The second episode for the Game of Thrones series, which released last month, received strong reviews; we at Game Rant gave it four out of five stars.
Game of Thrones Episode 3 is due out soon, and Telltale has started building excitement by releasing a teaser photo on their Twitter account that offers a few details about the upcoming episode. As the above teaser shows, it looks like players can expect dragons to take a major role in the game series. Those who are familiar with the television series (Spoilers Ahead!) will recognize the dragon as Daenerys Targaryen's black dragon, Drogon, which she named after her dead husband, Drogo.
Drogon is by far the most aggressive of Daenerys' dragons and can be quite difficult to control, which should make for a fun challenge in the game. We'll be interested to see how involved Drogon and the other two dragons are in the new episode.
The teaser photo also hints at the episode focusing, at least partially, on the Night's Watch given the episode's name "The Sword in the Darkness", which comes from the Night's Watch oath. In Game of Thrones, the Night's Watch is the group of men that protect the Seven Kingdoms from the wildlings and giants that live in the far north. Those who join the Night's Watch, or "take The Black", must be willing to accept and live by the oath, which reads:
"Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."
More information, including a firm release date for Game of Thrones Episode 3 should be coming soon. We will be interested to see how this episode plays out and if it's able to maintain the momentum for Telltale's series.
