With the action-heavy focus on the majority of games that are released, it's only a given that developers need to figure out new and exciting ways to use weapons in the game. Many mechanics have been developed to facilitate the same, ranging from weapon durability to loot rarity. However, there are times when features like these also become very mundane and not really all that interesting to behold.

However, the idea of turning one's body parts into weapons is something that has always been one of the biggest draws in gaming, with the many titles that implement such a feature being remembered for the same. The following games feature characters that turn their own body into a weapon of mass destruction that can do everything from slicing enemies into bits to exploding them all in one fell swoop.

10 Alex Mercer (Prototype)

Prototype is one of the first games that come to mind when people think about turning body parts into weapons. The main character of this game, Alex Mercer, is an amnesiac who wakes up and finds out that he has superpowers.

These powers let him transform his arms into blades, run up walls without a care in the world, smash things by jumping on them, and everything else along the same lines. Suffice it to say, Prototype fulfills a massive power fantasy which is one of the biggest reasons why players love this game.

9 Mega Man (Mega Man)

Mega Man

Mega Man is a series that needs no introduction. Capcom might not be giving this action platformer the love it deserves, but fans of Mega Man still remember the fond times when they had to gather a bunch of weapons to defeat bosses across many stages.

As a result, Mega Man manages to harbor a ton of weapons that can be switched out on the fly as he beats bosses and takes their abilities. This makes the android pretty weak early on but a tour-de-force across all fronts once players unlock every weapon he can wield.

8 V (Cyberpunk 2077)

Cybernetic augmentations are one of the best ways to turn one's body into a destructive force. Such is the case in Cyberpunk 2077, where V can be kitted out with numerous augmentations that can turn the tide of battle in an instant.

Everything from heightened damage to explosive projectiles can be acquired by V through augmentation. The fact that V doesn't turn cyberpsycho despite being chromed to such a massive extent lets the player enjoy this power fantasy even more.

7 Transformed Heroes (Wildermyth)

Wildermyth Bear Transformation

Wildermyth is one of the most unique games out there that fans should definitely check out. The game features various campaigns where a group of heroes hunts down a source of evil across multiple generations while also experiencing procedurally generated narratives of their own.

Some of these events let people transform into other beings entirely, such as werewolves and skeletons to name a few. These transformed warriors turn their own bodies into effective weapons that help out a ton in the strategic battles featured in Wildermyth.

6 JC Denton/Adam Jensen (Deus Ex)

Deus Ex

It would be impossible to talk about games that dabble in transhumanism without mentioning the Deus Ex series. Both the original game and the prequel duology have done a great job of showing what the world would be like if augmentation became rampant.

JC Denton, the protagonist of the first game, is the first agent to be fitted with nano augmentations. Meanwhile, Adam Jensen's augmentations are more mechanical given that the games are a prequel, after all.

5 Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy 7)

Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy 7

The fact that Vincent is an optional party member is something that fans still find hard to believe. He feels like a critical part of the Final Fantasy 7 squad, with his backstory filling up a ton of holes when it comes to Sephiroth's origin.

After being experimented on by Hojo, Vincent essentially became a vampire who could transform into an out-of-control beast when his limits were broken. He might be unpredictable in such a situation, but his effectiveness in battle more than makes up for this detriment.

4 Mario (Super Mario Odyssey)

Mario Becoming A Goomba In Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey was a landmark title in a franchise known for innovating with each entry. Watching Mario transform into other enemies and the like by flinging his hat at them made for a truly addictive gameplay mechanic.

As a result, Mario could weaponize his own body if he possessed the appropriate object or entity. This was crucial to get through certain stages or deal with bosses.

3 The Hunter (Bloodborne)

The Beast Claw in Bloodborne

Bloodborne is arguably FromSoftware's best game, with the mighty Elden Ring still not being enough for many people to remove Bloodborne from the throne it has occupied for a while. The game prioritized quality over quantity and became all the more beloved for it.

Each and every weapon in Bloodborne is unique and has a transformed state. In fact, certain combinations of weapons and runes transform the very body of the Hunter itself, letting them acquire unique movesets that use their own transformed bodies to deal massive damage.

2 Black Suit Spider-Man (Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows)

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is one of the more underrated games featuring this beloved wallcrawler. The game lets players switch between the normal and Black Suit at will, which is pretty neat indeed.

The Black Suit comes with its own set of combos and abilities, most of which use the symbiote material that the suit consists of. It might not be a body part per se, but the fact that this symbiote is meant to fuse with Peter's body itself definitely qualifies it as such.

1 The Dark Prince (Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones)

Prince of Persia The Two Thrones

After Warrior Within completely changed the tone of the Prince of Persia series following Sands of Time, The Two Thrones stepped in and tried to combine the best facets of both titles. This was a neat idea, with the plot revolving around the Prince's return to his kingdom and Sands of Time being unleashed upon the world.

As a result, the Prince's body also undergoes a severe change, fusing with a chain that was wrapped around his arm and giving him a dark side as well... quite literally! The Dark Prince appears at regular intervals in the game, letting players wield this fused chain in combat to great effect.
