Nintendo has been known as one of the tighter publishers as far as making sure its information doesn't release to the public. But today, another large leak has presented itself, following up what was one of the bigger Nintendo leaks in recent memory earlier this summer.

If 2013 was the year of Luigi for Nintendo, 2020 may be the year of Nintendo leaks. This most recent find points to the possibility of a Game Boy Advance successor that may have been in the works.

Twitter user @WaluigiBSOD sent out a tweet if the information they found while sifting through a recent Nintendo leak. According to their information, there was an enhanced Game Boy Advance in the works simultaneously to the Nintendo DS being in the public's hands. The project seems to have been canceled, but it is very intriguing to think of Nintendo releasing a new Game Boy Advance while the DS was just getting started.

According to the tweet, and a few follow-up ones as well, the manuals between the GBA and this leaked project highlight only a few minor differences. And thanks to some other individuals who chimed in, it seems as if this long-lost handheld was basically a GBA with Nintendo DS hardware. For a time, Nintendo was adamant that the DS and Game Boy could live on together. In fact, the Big N even released the Game Boy Micro a year after the launch of the Nintendo DS, but the handheld flopped and Nintendo soon turned its attention solely on the extremely successful Nintendo Dual-Screen.

Earlier this month, another leak pointed to a possible portable GameCube, as well as a console that was going to have directly competed with Xbox and PlayStation, before turning to a totally different idea with the Wii. Even if the leaks are years, even decades old, Nintendo most likely isn't too psyched about its strategies being uncovered. The company is also known for canning ideas for years, before adding them into totally different projects years later.

Only a few days ago a pre-production Game Boy Advance SP surfaced with the project name DX on its labeling. So only in the last month, secret Nintendo handheld projects have discovered from before Game Boy Advance SP, during the life of the Nintendo DS, and towards the end of the lifecycle of the GameCube. One can only imagine what Nintendo is currently cooking up.
