The host of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, has expressed he is very excited about this year's show. The originator and face of The Game Awards held a Reddit AMA, taking and answering questions from the Reddit audience. To answer a question about his excitement level this year compared to years prior, Keighley iterated that he hasn't felt so good about a show in a while.

Geoff Keighley is a game journalist that is especially known for his appearances and roles in different game awards and game-related shows. He was the producer of Spike Video Game Awards before creating the concept of The Game Awards. Since 2014, The Game Awards has held annually a show dedicated to the best performances in video games, separated into categories like in the Academy Awards. The categories include the likes of Best Art Direction, Best Multiplayer Game, and, naturally, Game of the Year.

This year's The Game Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 16, and Keighley seems exceptionally excited about the show. According to answers in the Reddit AMA, this year is somewhat special. Keighley revealed that there are some special surprises to come that he hopes can be kept secret until the big reveal. According to The Game Awards host, there are going to be around 30 to 40 games included in the show, and a "fair number" of them will be new announcements to the public. He also confirmed that most of the announcements will include gameplay footage, and only a couple will rely only on CGI.

One of the questions asked whether the voting results could be made public for transparency's sake, which Keighley acknowledged. This year the Players Voice is going to be trialing this, although it's not as simple from the perspective of the host. While he'd like to give out the results, he also recognizes that showing that someone didn't get a single vote would be cruel to the developers, and so on. Keighley is taking feedback seriously and considering criticism towards The Game Awards selections fairly, which is certainly going to earn even more respect among gamers. He addressed adding Sifu as a fighting game, which wasn't to everyone's liking but was ultimately decided by the jury.

The Game Awards is one of the most important and prestigious game events of the year and seems to be only growing bigger. Microsoft, as one of Keighley's collaborators, is going to simultaneously carry out the annual ID@Xbox winter demo event, which offers free indie game demos to Xbox gamers.
