The Game Awards are right around the corner, and while Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok may be battling it out for Game of the Year, fans know to expect some new world premieres too. This show is reportedly shorter than shows in the past, but that doesn't necessarily mean there will be less quality in the announcements. This may prove especially true if some of the rumors prove true.

Now, a handful of games and companies have either confirmed or teased their presence there, separating them from things that are simply rumored. A new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor gameplay trailer is confirmed for the show, for example, while Activision has potentially teased a new Crash Bandicoot game, Bandai Namco has teased Tekken 8, Epic Games and 505 Games have teased a new announcement, and Larian Studios has teased its presence at The Game Awards too. As such, while these may or may not be there in most cases, it makes them distinct from possible rumors.

The Game Awards - Rumored Video Game Announcements

reddit ask me anything

Some of these rumors come from certain happenings around the industry right now, while others have come from other rumors and leaks. What's important is that fans keep expectations in check; none of this is confirmed to be at The Game Awards. Everything should be taken with a massive grain of salt until the show either proves or disproves these rumors.

  • Elden Ring DLC
    • FromSoftware is opening Elden Ring's Colosseums on December 7, the day before the show, despite many pleas it is there for a significant DLC announcement. This could be an appetizer ahead of the show, or it could be all that fans hear from FromSoftware this year.
  • Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and/or Mass Effect 4
    • Like Elden Ring, both of these potentially have "appetizers" for the show. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf released a new Solas cinematic for Dragon Age Day, while Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is available on PS Plus this month. These are coincidences that prove nothing, but it hasn't stopped fans from hoping. BioWare also attended The Game Awards in 2018, skipped 2019, attended in 2020, skipped 2021, and this pattern would suggest an appearance this year.
  • Horizon Forbidden West DLC
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Diablo 4
  • Final Fantasy 16
  • Metal Gear Solid Remake

It should be noted that there are also plenty of fake rumors and leaks out there, and some things may come surprisingly true and others not. It's hard to say for sure. One image has been spreading online of potential announcements at the show, though it is of terrible quality and states Opening Night Live on it, and it includes Hogwarts Legacy, Redfall, Elden Ring Bane of Disputant DLC, Dead Space, Aliens, and Turok. Many were quick to call it an obvious fake, which it was, but Geoff Keighley has also cleared the air and called this image fake.

The Game Awards ceremony takes place on December 8.
