Every year since 2014, Geoff Keighley has hosted The Game Awards, doling out awards in various categories for the world's top games. The Game Awards will return on December 10 for the 2020 edition, and while it may be a little different than expected thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it should still be a huge, can't-miss show for those who follow the gaming industry closely. To build up excitement for The Game Awards 2020, Keighley has released a new hype trailer highlighting some of the nominated games as well as titles that will be coming in 2021 and beyond.

The Game Awards hype trailer spends a lot of time with some of the games nominated for Game of the Year. This includes titles like The Last of Us 2 as well as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, with footage of these games set to Linkin Park's "My December" song. Various other games nominated, like Animal Crossing: New HorizonsGhost of Tsushima, and Hades are also featured in the hype trailer.

Some of the upcoming games shown in the trailer include Far Cry 6 as well as Resident Evil 8. This could be an indication that fans will get to see new glimpses of these games at The Game Awards 2020, but that's just speculation at this time. After all, Resident Evil 8 is nominated for the Most Anticipated Game award at this year's event.

Besides seeing which games won which awards, people will also be tuning in to The Game Awards to see big, surprising world premiere announcements. Most of these are being kept secret, but Geoff Keighley has let the cat out of the bag about one game that fans can expect to see at this year's show. Those tuning in to The Game Awards 2020 will get a new look at BioWare's Dragon Age 4, which was first announced at The Game Awards 2018 with a brief teaser trailer.

Another game that's heavily rumored to be making an appearance at The Game Awards 2020 is FromSoftware's Elden Ring. FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won Game of the Year at the 2019 Game Awards event, so it would be fitting for its next major game to be showcased this year. However, Elden Ring has not been officially confirmed for the event in any capacity, and so those looking forward to the game should definitely keep their expectations in check.

Regardless, there should be plenty of surprise announcements at The Game Awards 2020 for industry enthusiasts to check out, so fans should be sure to tune in come December 10.
