As the final month of 2020 begins, one last annual gaming tradition remains, with Geoff Keighley's yearly Game Awards ceremony set to take place on December 10. Renown for its jaw-dropping world premieres and coveted awards, it's a night that celebrates some of this year's biggest accomplishments in the gaming space, whether that's through its tech-based trophies, its story-focused accolades, or its coveted Game of the Year Award.

Fans already know that some big names will be hosting during the event, including Spider-Man star and future live-action Nathan Drake, Tom Holland, as well as Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot. Joining them will be a third superhero icon, with The Game Awards' Twitter account confirming that Captain Marvel's Brie Larson is set to take to the stage as a presenter.

Starring in a number of action-packed Hollywood blockbusters like Avengers: Endgame and Kong: Skull Island, as well as a variety of smaller gems like Ben Wheatley's Free Fire and Lenny Abrahamson's Room, Larson has become a more prominent figure in the gaming world this year. She's been a huge advocate for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, even featuring recently in one of Nintendo's ads. She also discussed her love for Breath of the Wild on Hot Ones and was a prominent guest on Gary Whitta's Animal Talking, even revealing that she'd love to play Samus in a Metroid movie. It feels fitting for her to join Keighley and his roster of great guests heading into next Thursday's event.

As mentioned prior, Larson joins an already stacked roster of guest stars. Alongside the likes of Tom Holland and Gal Gadot, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder will be taking to the stage as well as Swedish Chef from the Muppets, who is sure to bring the franchise's wacky antics to the event. A next-generation focused panel will also be broadcast, featuring some of the industry's biggest names, including Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, Chief Studios Officer of EA Laura Miele, and CEO of AMD Dr. Lisa Su.

The event itself will see some of this year's biggest games crowned, with the likes of Fall Guys, Among Us, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Half-Life: Alyx, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps all nominated for awards. The big showdown will be between Doom Eternal, Last of Us 2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Hades, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Ghost of Tsushima, however, with the six games battling it out for Game of the Year. With last year seeing FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice taking the top prize, it'll be interesting to see which game follows suit during the 2020 Game Awards showcase.

The Game Awards will take place on December 10.
