There's no doubt that both Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War were two of this year's biggest releases, and it looks as if The Game Awards 2018 is set to reflect just that. As it so happens, Geoff Keighley's annual awards show for the video game industry has officially released the complete nominees list for the event, with Rockstar Games' open world western and Santa Monica Studio's action-adventure epic leading the pack in terms of total nominations.

For those keeping count, the PlayStation 4 exclusive God of War and multi-platform Red Dead Redemption 2 both tied for the most nominations for The Game Awards 2018, by receiving eight nominations apiece, including Game of the Year. Trailing right behind them is Insomniac Games' PS4-only title, Marvel's Spider-Man, which comes in at a close second with seven nominations in total. Those interested in the full list of categories and nominees will find them at the end of the article.

As many gaming fans will likely agree, both Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War will be in good company when it comes to the rest of the nominees for 2018 Game of the Year, as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Celeste, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Monster Hunter World all round out the list. Taking these titles into consideration, save for MHW, it looks as if products focused on single player gameplay reign supreme at The Game Awards 2018.

Those looking forward to finding out this year's winners can tune into The Game Awards 2018 on December 6, 2018 at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT, with viewers being able to watch the event live via YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, Mixer, Steam TV, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Live. What's more is that fans can vote for winners through myriad different platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook Messenger, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Discord.
