The Game Awards is always an exciting time for gamers. The show always comes with brand-new announcements and world premieres and it's nice to see all the hard work developers put into making games pay off with awards. Last year, there was an incredibly heartwarming moment as Xbox's Phil Spencer, Former President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils Amie, and Former Head of PlayStation Studios Shawn Layden took the stage together, in a rare moment of unity - a moment that almost didn't happen.

The Game Awards host Geoff Keighly revealed that the trio's appearance on stage together fell apart just days before the show was set to take place but miraculously came back together at the last moment. Keighley didn't reveal what, exactly, almost caused the moment to fall through the cracks, but it apparently took months of negotiating to make it happen. Commenting on the debacle, Keighley stated, "Producing these shows is always an emotional rollercoaster, but I’m really proud of that moment, and glad I was able to help make it happen.”

The Game Awards 2019 is just a few days away, with around 10 new reveals planned for the show. There are almost always emotional moments on-stage, as years of work finally pays off for developers and industry icons alike. That being said, the moment between the three titans of the game industry was incredibly special to see, as bickering over which console is best can often make players forget to simply enjoy games.

A hype trailer for The Game Awards was recently released, and it does a pretty good job at raising expectations for the show. The Game Awards are, in many ways, like a mini E3, which seems to be getting more and more common as console manufacturers begin to throw their own reveal parties throughout the year. With a large number of stellar titles coming out over the course of this year, it's impossible to tell which games will win big at this year's show.

The list of Game Awards nominations is now live and open for voting, so those interested in voicing their opinions still have some time to sneak in votes. The show is now just a few days away though, so it may not be a good thing to procrastinate on. With the quality of some games in the running, a few votes may make a major difference.

The Game Awards will be streamed live on Deember 12th, 2019, at 5:30 PM.
