Gal Gadot may be best known to most movie audiences as Wonder Woman, but in one of her next roles, she's going to have the opportunity to embrace her darker nature. That's because the Justice League alum is reportedly going to take on the role of the evil queen in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White.

Gadot is already expanding out from her role in Wonder Woman with another tent-pole picture in Red Notice, but once that's done, the actress who is best known as fighting baddies will get to be one herself. This will also be the first time she's been able to take on the role of such a classic Disney character.

The live-action Snow White cast is starting to fill up, as Rachel Zeigler was recently named as the actress who would take on the titular role. Deadline now reports that Gadot is in final negotiations to take on the antagonist role in the film and after some scheduling details were worked out, a deal was closed. The casting for Snow White might be taking quite a while, but the producers reportedly have long had Gadot in mind for the part of the evil queen. It's said that the Wonder Woman actor has been intrigued by the part because of the opportunity to join other well-known actresses such as Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchette, and Emma Stone as iconic Disney villains.

The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs cartoon, which was based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, was released in 1938, three years before Wonder Woman made her first DC Comics appearance. That movie was the first animated feature film for Disney and was a massive success. Reports are that Disney is going to try and cash in on that success by expanding on the story from the original movie and including music from the classic film. There will also be new music in this live-action Snow White written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the award-winning duo who have La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and most recently, Dear Evan Hansen under their belts.

Gadot certainly knows something about playing a well-known character, whether talking about movies or comic books. Her casting as the iconic Wonder Woman was first met with trepidation but it appears most DC comics fans have now accepted her as the face of a hero who's been around for decades.

Disney's Snow White is expected to begin production in 2022.
