The G4 revival has been one of gaming's most exciting and heartwarming developments over the past year. A major question about the revival has been when would it actually launch, but a new video from G4 seems to answer that question.

G4's peak popularity was in the middle 2000s, before the prominence of YouTube and social media, where the network would show a variety of content pertaining to the video game community. It was not necessarily just a place to watch gameplay of upcoming titles, shows like X-Play were the predecessor to modern gaming content, where the hosts would discuss trends in the industry, conduct interviews, and many other activities. Attack of the Show, meanwhile, expanded the covered topics beyond the realm of video games to pop culture more broadly including film and other digital media. Fittingly, G4's revival has recruited popular YouTube personalities in Gina Darling, Jirard "The Completionist" Khalil, and many others.

G4 has released a new video confirming when the revival will officially begin airing. The video is centered around the premise of "a year of mindblowing gaming products" like the Xbox Series X fridge, the Kentucky Fried Chicken KFConsole, and the litany of people trying to make a quick buck with fake PS5s. This builds ultimately to the reveal of when G4 will launch, the "one big announcement gamers have been asking for," it being on November 16, 2021. G4 ends the video with a humorous disclaimer noting that the "network launch date is final," both confirming its announcement and perhaps addressing the elephant in the room: the G4 revival timeline.

Besides the references to some of gaming's more entertaining headlines of the year, the video is also very straightforward regarding G4 and how it has handled its revival. Just before the launch date reveal, the narrator of the video admits that gamers have been asking so adamently about G4's return because "G4 has been stringing them along for freakin-ever." Teasers for G4's return started in July of 2020 when the the social media accounts for Attack of the Show! and X-Play were reactivated. New information has been coming intermittently since then, but with today's video, the return has a final date.

G4's tragic shutdown in 2014 marked the end of an era in gaming, for better and for worse. The content provided by G4 was integral in a time when the internet was still not super pervasive, where only a few people were really succeeding in the content creation realm. By the time it died though, people were simply turning to YouTube, and other news sites for gaming information on their phones and PCs, effectively destroying the necessity of G4 (at least on TV anyway). With a revival as a digital-first network, G4 has the potential to return to the greatness it once had, and perhaps kick off a new era for gaming content.
