Since its origins in the 1970s, Dungeons and Dragons has grown into one of the most recognizable brands in the gaming world. The tabletop RPG has become a cultural icon for players of all ages. The series has been particularly popular thanks to online shows like Critical Role bringing tales of adventures and dragons to millions of viewers. Now, returning gaming network G4 looks to be taking a slice of the loot.

The return of the G4TV network has been a long time coming for many fans with fond memories of the gaming-based network. G4 hit its peak in the early 2000s as a hub not just for gaming news, but also for gaming content as a whole. Following the rise of online platforms like YouTube and Twitch, G4 folded in 2014 and lay dormant for six years until the network officially announced its revival last year. Now, G4 has revealed a Dungeons and Dragons-themed series will be joining its lineup for the relaunch later this month.

Wizards of the Coast and G4 officially announced Wednesday that the network will debut a Dungeons and Dragons series titled Dungeons and Dragons Presents: Invitation to Party. The upcoming series will be the first made-for-television series to feature full Dungeons and Dragons gameplay and will star several notable online personalities for its DM and party. Some of the names joining Invitation to Party include co-founder of Maker Studios Kassem Gharaibeh, Rooster Teeth actress Fiona Nova, and League of Legends shoutcaster Indiana Black, also known as Froskurinn.

Alongside the TV broadcast, Invitation to Party will be live broadcast to the G4 Twitch and YouTube channels on Friday nights. Viewers will be able to interact with the campaign and have the option to vote on how the campaign's story will progress. B. Dave Walters, who will be playing the role of Dungeon Master for the Invitation to Party campaign, was optimistic about the involvement of both parties, praising the cast G4 had assembled for the show and commenting on how the series will be a "unique" take on Dungeons and Dragons.

Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop role-playing games have become a popular topic in recent years. The massive success of Critical Role has brought new players into the game and helped to boost the widespread popularity of one of the most iconic tabletop RPGs. G4's Invitation to Party will hope to see similar success to its online counterparts and continue to bring the questing fun of Dungeons and Dragons to even more fans around the world.
