Futurama fans are the latest to get a revival, this one coming from Hulu. This seems to be an age of new hope and recaptured opportunities. With shows like The Proud Family and Dexter gaining another shot at life in recent years (to varying degrees of success), it really does feel like any classic series has a shot at coming back, at least for a little while.

The upcoming and highly-anticipated continuation of Futurama on Hulu has dropped a little tease that's sure to inspire plenty of speculation among hungry fans. But while this info was quietly added, it didn't stop the eager Futurama faithful from flocking around for some good old-fashioned hype.

The Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR) is a database for production companies to register their upcoming projects, and it now has a page featuring 10 episode titles from the revival. A user on the Futurama subreddit discovered the new addition, and the conversations immediately began to grow from there. Users were quick to point out the number of references to past episodes in the listed titles. For example, "Parasites Regained" seems to be a clear nod to the classic Futurama episode "Parasites Lost," in which Fry (played by Billy West) eats a dubious sandwich and gets infested by parasites that end up improving his life in a multitude of ways. The episode did end with the worms ominously threatening Fry, saying their return was pretty much inevitable given how much junk food Fry eats, so it would certainly be interesting (and likely hilarious) to see where they go next with that substory.

Others noticed that several of the episodes look to be targeting some pretty timely issues, with titles like "Rage Against The Vaccine" and "Zapp Gets Cancelled." Futurama has pretty much always tied itself in with current events (and plenty of sci-fi references), which also had the likely anticipated effect of making some of them feel dated rather quickly. A number of fans appeared clearly wary of how well the show will tackle those topics, especially given how its success in the past has fluctuated.

But there are still plenty of positive vibes surrounding the reveal. "I Know What You Did Last Xmas" caught a few eyes, as it will no doubt feature the return of the always chaotic Robot Santa Claus. Meanwhile, the user who posted the episode list cleverly speculated that the episode "All The Way Down" would deal with flat earthers. The user tied this theory to title's similarity to "turtles all the way down," an expression that alludes to the ancient idea of the world existing on top of a turtle's back. The showrunners must be so proud.

Unlike Harley Quinn's season 4 episodes, which were also posted on the registry, Futurama has already been officially confirmed. So the speculation, in this case, can be done without that lingering feeling of minor dread. There's still a bit of time before it's expected to premiere, which gives plenty of leeway (or maybe "Leela" way) to keep those fan discussions hot. Featuring the returning talent of West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Lauren Tom, and Phil LaMarr, one thing that probably won't be debated is the performances.

The Futurama revival is expected to premiere in 2023 on Hulu.
