During San Diego Comic-Con, Funko confirmed it was working with 10:10 Games to co-produce a major AAA action platformer, and the companies have now confirmed what that game is. Not much else was said during its initial reveal, but it left plenty to the imagination. Funko has worked with major franchises throughout its existence, creating collectibles with an iconic bobble head-like design, but this is its first major venture into the AAA gaming space.

This will be 10:10 Games' first release too, but the studio is composed of veterans who specialize in working with third-party IPs. Many of them, for example, have worked on LEGO video games at TT Games, and it's exciting to imagine the partners Funko could bring in to create a crossover world that meshes all of these IPs together.

Exclusively, Game Rant can reveal that the new game is called Funko Fusion and that NBCUniversal is the premiere launch partner. Funko also shared the below image, teasing some of the characters coming to the game. It's hard to make out many of the characters, just as any good teaser would do, but Funko clearly isn't limiting itself to human-only characters. One character seems like a cyborg, one is clearly a T-Rex (perhaps from Jurassic World), and one is some form of robotic spider suit.

Funko Fusion aims to create a mash-up world of characters, locations, and more that allow players to blend their fandoms together. NBCUniversal's properties are leading the way, but it's clear that additional properties will be coming to the game. Funko Fusion will allow gamers to play as these various characters with up to four players online or in a single-player mode. It is made using the technologies of Unreal Engine 5, is rated T for Teen, and is in active development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. According to Funko CEO Andrew Perlmutter,

"Fans can expect an unparalleled gaming experience with characters from their favorite cult classic films and TV series. Funko is known for exceptional in-person and digital experiences that excite and fully engage fans, and Funko Fusion will be no exception. We're building something with Funatics in mind, Easter eggs and all."

Collecting Funko Pops is a major hobby, and while its toy division is going nowhere, it'll be interesting to see all the properties Funko Fusion launches with. There's no doubt many fans will have their own wish lists for Funko Fusion properties, but given that Funko has worked with brands like Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, various sports, books, My Little Pony, holiday pops, and plenty of commercial properties within and outside those spheres, it stands to reason that the sheer potential of Funko Fusion's crossover world is limitless. It's unknown what else will come to the game at launch and post-release, but fans will learn more as the game inches closer to its release window.

Funko Fusion is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
