Many female public figures have been speaking out against the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and a recent video released on social media depicts Full House star Jodie Sweetin being assaulted by the Los Angeles Police Department while fighting for her rights.

The recent Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, which will lead to the end of legal abortion in many states in the US, has left many women distraught and scared about the future and their right to choose what to do with their own bodies. Now, Sweetin was among the many to face police violence amid the protests that followed the Supreme Court's decision.

The video depicts the LAPD officer forcefully grabbing and pushing the actress to the ground. Following her fall, a group of protesters rushed to help the Full House actress, while other protesters continue to chant, “No justice, no peace.” This seems to have occurred on a freeway that was blocked off for the protest. “I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court,” Sweetin said in a statement. “Our activism will continue until our voices are heard and action is taken. This will not deter us, we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free.”

Sweetin also shared the video of the altercation on her own Instagram account, writing, “Thank you for posting. Love everyone out there in the streets fighting for what’s right… #WeKeepUsSafe.” This video of the LAPD adds itself to the collection of assaults celebrities have faced at the hands of police during protests that began peacefully. Other stars like Halsey were shot with rubber bullets by LAPD during a 2020 Black Lives Matter protest in the wake of George Floyd's death and Madison Beer was tear-gassed by LAPD around the same time in 2020.

These occurrences of police brutality have been occurring for decades, but the authorities' lack of care and sensitivity even towards those who are massive public figures shines a greater light on their bad behavior. The Full House star luckily seems to be unharmed, but from the narrative the video paints, the altercation definitely could've been avoided.

Full House is available on Netflix.
