Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst states that adaptations of FromSoftware games could be on the way following Sony's increased investment in the company. FromSoftware is the famed developer of the Soulsborne series, known for creating games that mostly consist of putting the player through some extremely difficult challenges. Despite their difficulty, which has turned some from the games, FromSoftware's titles have received critical acclaim all over, and its latest release Elden Ring has seen a wave of positive reception and incredible financial success.

Apart from the difficult combat and challenging boss fights that leave a player with an immense sense of accomplishment once they've been defeated, players love the FromSoftware games for other reasons. One of the major aspects of the Soulsborne series that stands out to fans is its lore and storytelling. Often, it is up to the player to figure out the hidden narratives behind certain characters, and even the world they're adventuring in, leading to some interesting discoveries should one explore enough. Elden Ring's lore, for example, is full of secrets that players can find either through the game's open world or in its item descriptions.

Some FromSoftware fans believe that the rich worlds and stories that Soulsborne series director Hidetaka Miyazaki creates are strong enough to have their own video game adaptations. According to a recent interview with PlayStation Studios Head Hermen Hulst, it seems that Sony might share in that belief. Speaking on the recent purchase of a minority stake in FromSoftware, Hulst stated that while collaborations such as this should be thought of with game development coming "first and foremost," it isn't "unthinkable" that opportunities could be explored with PlayStation Productions.

PlayStation Productions is the entertainment company Sony created to manage the adaptations of its games. Already, PlayStation Productions has seen the release of the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland, and it is involved in the upcoming The Last of Us TV series which just dropped its first teaser. While it isn't clear whether Hulst is confirming the production of an adaptation of a FromSoftware title, fans believe that if PlayStation Productions were to work on such a project, Bloodborne would likely be the game to adapt.

This is primarily due to Bloodborne being a PS4 exclusive, which means it would keep with PlayStation Productions' pattern of making adaptations for Sony exclusive titles. Some fans would prefer to see a new game come out of this Sony investment in FromSoftware, or even a remaster of Bloodborne, something many have been requestiing for some time.
