Little to nothing is known about From Software's next project. First revealed during The Game Awards in late 2017, the project is currently known by the text shown during that debut trailer -- Shadows Die Twice, which may or may not be its official title. More information may be less than a month away, however, as a source is claiming that Shadows Die Twice will have a "big showing" at E3.

ResetEra community member Omnipotent, also known as OmipotentComponent, first made waves in December 2017. They claimed at the time that Shadows Die Twice was "200% not Bloodborne 2." The ResetEra administration, which has strict rules regarding unfounded rumors, then verified that Omnipotent was in a position to know what they claimed. The veracity of Omnipotent's claims, however, was not confirmed.

And now Omnipotent is back with more information regarding Shadows Die Twice, as speculation regarding the game's presence at E3 grows to a height. According to Omnipotent, From Software will have a big showing for Shadows Die Twice at E3, but that they can't divulge which show until closer to the event. The implication being that Shadows Die Twice will be featured during a big press conference, but which conference may be a surprise.

The new rumors didn't stop there, however, as Omnipotent continued to face questions regarding Shadows Die Twice's relation to past From Software games. After making clear that Shadows Die Twice isn't Dark Souls 4 either, they said the following in response to whether the game is a "Souls-like":

"I can say it's not going to be Demon's Souls adjacent and that's about it in terms of gameplay. You're probably not going to see another set of games that can be as tightly knit together as Demons>Dark>Blood. But it's still going to be a Fromsoft game, so take that as you will."

From Software has mentioned before that it's not planning on continuing the Souls brand for the time being, but that hasn't stopped fans from asking for more. But even if From Software is dropping the gameplay of Souls for the time being, it's hard to imagine it dropping the dark and gothic style. Retaining that style seems to be what Omnipotent is implying, as supported by the blood and bone shown in Shadows Die Twice's first trailer.

Unfortunately, the veracity of these rumors won't be confirmed or repudiated until E3. Everything said fits well into reason, though. From Software has said prior that it's working on three games, one of which is Armored Core and one of which is a new genre for From Software. Other, wilder rumors have pointed towards Shadows Die Twice being a spiritual successor to Japanese survival horror game Kuon. Everything's still on the table -- for now.

Shadows Die Twice has no currently announced release window or supported platforms.
