If rage quitting hosts and connection issues have got players down they're in luck, because Friday the 13th: The Game is getting single player challenges, as well as updates to the multiplayer mode, in a patch coming Thursday, May 24.

Gun Media dropped the release date trailer, which showcases some of Jason's new moves. The kills are every bit as gruesome as fans of Friday the 13th should expect, and perhaps even more-so. The iconic Crystal Lake killer uses everything from boiling water to a boulder to exact revenge on the unsuspecting camp counselors. The scene in the new trailer is set to a track that sounds like it was ripped right from the 80s, but is actually a recent track by an artist called Sunglasses Kid, who makes "80s pop jams and shopping mall music."

The update will be available on all platforms, free of charge, this Thursday, May 24. Along with the long-anticipated single player challenges, the update will bring a new counselor named Victoria Sterling, a rebalance to Jason from Part 7, new Roy skins, an upgraded Jason grab, a Jason weapon-select ability (more on that in a moment), PC key-binding, AI improvements, "and more." Perhaps the most substantial inclusion aside from the single-player challenges is the engine update previewed last month, which will be included in this week's update.

As far as the Jason weapon-select update, don't get too excited unless you've dedicated some serious time to Friday the 13th: The Game. Gun Media recently clarified that the ability to swap weapons between Jason skins will only be unlocked after the player reaches level 113. The announcement was met with some backlash from fans, but as of yet Gun Media hasn't backed down from the decision.

Nevertheless, this May 24 update is undeniably beefy and should please the game's core community. Despite considerable technical challenges, Gun Media seems committed to improving player experience across the board, from fixing glitches to addressing community concerns. Gun Media recently announced plans to introduce "salt mines," a punishment that groups quitters together to suffer each other's saltiness away from players who stay in the game until it ends.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
