Despite some technical issues and relatively poor reviews, Friday the 13th: The Game has proven popular enough to receive continued support from its developers. Illfonic has been open about some of the content coming to the game in the future, including smaller maps and free emotes, but it’s been more cryptic about some other updates.

Earlier today on Twitter, the official Friday the 13th: The Game Twitter account posted a strange image of seven black dots and one blue dot. Unfortunately, Illfonic stopped short of providing any kind of explanation as to what the image could mean, but it seems as though it is teasing a new skin for Jason Voorhees, with two possible skins seeming the most likely.

One possibility is that the dot represents Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees. As horror movie buffs will recall, Pamela Voorhees was the killer in the original Friday the 13th film, not Jason, and so many fans would appreciate having her as a playable character in the game. The reason why Pamela could be represented by the blue dot is because of her iconic blue sweater, which she wore during her murderous rampage in the original film and that was later used in the altar Jason made in her honor.

Besides Pamela Voorhees, another non-Jason Friday the 13th antagonist could be represented by the blue dot. In Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, the fifth film in the slasher movie franchise, the killer was a paramedic named Roy Burns, who decided to go on a Jason Voorhees-inspired killing spree. Roy even dressed the part, donning a hockey mask to terrorize Tommy Jarvis and his other helpless victims. However, whereas Jason’s mask typically has red markings on it, Roy’s mask had blue markings, so the blue dot could easily fit him as well.

Of course, it’s possible that these guesses are way off base and the blue dot could be representing something else entirely. Perhaps Illfonic is teasing a new map based on the eighth Friday the 13th film, which could explain why the eighth dot is blue, or maybe it has something to do with the single player story that fans are still waiting to get their hands on.

For definitive answers, fans should keep an eye on the Friday the 13th: The Game Twitter account for more clues in the coming weeks.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
