Several months ago, Gun Media and IllFonic teased the inclusion of weapon swapping in the asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror title Friday the 13th: The Game, with players eventually being able to mix and match weapons and kills between the different Jason skins. Now, however, it looks as if the feature might be something that fans will have to spend a lot of time grinding for, as the aforementioned companies plan on locking it behind a very high level.

As seen in the tweet below from the official Friday the 13th: The Game Twitter account, what has been dubbed "Jason Weapon Selection" will be unlocked after hitting level 113, with the character's Strengths and Weaknesses being tied to Jason and not the weapons themselves. While Gun Media and IllFonic might see this decision as a fair way for players to earn the ability to make their own signature Jason loadouts, many are miffed at the prospect of it being so difficult to attain.

A quick scan of the game's official subreddit responding to the recent weapon swapping news shows many fans offering solid counter arguments to Gun Media and IllFonic setting the level so high for weapon swapping in Friday the 13th: The Game. The Redditor known as "TwerkyMcTwerkTwerk" states that it could be seen as "a big punch in the face to the majority" of fans "who aren't able to grind to that high of a level" because of general life issues or even game-related bugs. The user dubbed "enginewhichengine" does one better by cogently explaining that "the level requirement is too high given that players get all the currently available Jasons at level 44."

At this point, many would argue that the initial hype that came along with the release of Friday the 13th: The Game has mostly died down, but there's still a core community of players who have stuck with the title through its server problems at launch and a litany of other issues. While the developers may choose to keep the weapon swapping feature locked at level 113 once it becomes available, Gun Media and IllFonic could be doing so at the risk of alienating – or worse – losing fans in the long run.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
