Friday the 13th: The Game is doing its best to pay tribute to the slasher horror film franchise that inspired it. One way it is accomplishing that is by including notable people from the films in the game design process, including legendary special effects and makeup artist Tom Savini, who worked on the first and fourth films in the series. As part of his work on the game, Savini has created a skin for Jason that gives the Camp Crystal Lake killer a brand new look.

The skin Savini has dreamed up for Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th: The Game features him in a jumpsuit, but with glowing flames appearing through wounds on his torso and skull. This flaming Jason retains his iconic hockey mask, though it is darker and looks like it has suffered some fire damage as well. Jason also has a chain wrapped around his body, and is equipped with a trident, as opposed to the machete that he usually carries around.

Unfortunately, the flaming Jason skin will not be available to everyone, as fans have to pre-order the game in order to get their hands on it. However, it's likely that the rather imaginative new skin for Jason Voorhees will be added to the game at some point after launch as paid DLC, as is typical of pre-order bonuses.

While we know the flaming Jason skin itself won't be available to everyone at launch, it remains to be seen if the weapon associated with it will end up making it into the general game. Jason can already kill camp counselors in a wide variety of ways, but even so, it would be nice if all players could access the trident, as it seems to be one of the more imaginative weapons in the game.

With Friday the 13th: The Game set to launch at the end of the month, fans won't have to wait long to find out if flaming Jason's trident will be available to everyone or exclusive to those with the skin. And while some will miss out on the flaming Jason skin, there will be other alternate skins to look forward to, including one based on Jason's Friday the 13th: Part 6 appearance.

Friday the 13th: The Game will be available on May 26th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
