Players of Friday the 13th: The Game's beta discover that it's possible to kill or defeat Jason while playing as the survival-horror title's camp counselor characters.

As of late, fans who contributed to Gun Media’s Kickstarter campaign and have already pre-ordered their copy of Friday the 13th: The Game have been trying their hand at the survival-horror title thanks to to a hands-on preview of its multiplayer. With this being the case, these players have been doing their best to experience all that the title currently has to offer and discover all of the game's secrets in the beta, which includes finding out whether or not the camp counselor characters can kill the series' mainstay slasher Jason Voorhees.

Not too long ago, one Redditor going by the handle of johno619 posted in the game's subreddit to update other fans of their progress when it comes to offing Jason once and for all, with the user currently being unsuccessful in the venture. However, after listing all of the various attempts on taking out Jason in Friday the 13th: The Game, johno619 updated the thread to reveal that the seemingly unstoppable monster can be defeated – but maybe not totally killed – after the Redditor received a message from an anonymous developer who works on the game.

Although it appears as if Jason can possibly be killed in Friday the 13th: The Game, none of johno619's methods have actually worked so far. As of now, the Redditor has reported that the seemingly immortal villain has had his hockey mask knocked off after being hit in the face with an axe to no avail, and even Tommy Jarvis – that is, the first protagonist to truly defeat Jason in the movies – hasn't been able to kill Jason after shooting him at the graveyard or in Jason's mother's shack.

At the top of the responses in Friday the 13th: The Game's subreddit, a user with the name charmelen replied to say that Jason can at the very least die when players are controlling him, as he can walk off the map and fall to his death. However, the developers at Gun Media and Illfonic have taken a hard line stance when it comes to not corroborating if Jason can be killed in the game, so players will have to find out on their own, which is most likely the best way for this information to be discovered.

While it remains to be seen if Jason can actually be snuffed out by any of the other characters in Friday the 13th: The Game, he definitely dishes out plenty of vicious kills all his own, as the camp counselors are certainly susceptible to death in the title. So, while fans wait to find out if Jason is able to die at the hands of other characters, gamers can check out 17 minutes of extended gameplay footage to get a better idea of how the survival-horror title will play upon release.
