One of the better perks of subscribing to Sony Interactive Entertainment's online subscription service, PlayStation Plus, is the fact that PS Plus doles out free games on a monthly basis, giving users even more bang for their buck. Now, Sony has officially unveiled the free PS Plus games lineup for PS4 players to acquire for the month of April 2019, with the company offering both The Surge and Conan Exiles at no additional charge for subscribers.

The Surge is a science fiction action role-playing video game that was developed by the studio Deck13 Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive, and is considered to be a spiritual successor of sorts to Deck13's action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. Some PlayStation Plus subscribers might find that its gameplay contains similarities to the studio From Software's games, as Deck13 has also stated that The Surge was inspired by the Dark Souls series.

Conan Exiles is a survival video game developed and published by Funcom, and it is set in the world of Conan the Barbarian, with players' custom characters being rescued by Conan himself and then being tasked with navigating a harsh desert landscape dubbed The Exiled Lands. The full version of the game just recently made its console debut on PS4 and Xbox One last year, so PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting a relatively new console title for free next month in Conan Exiles.

Both The Surge and Conan Exiles will be joining the PlayStation Plus monthly games lineup on April 2, 2019, with the selections seemingly reflecting a theme of survival. The PS4 version of The Surge currently sits at a 73 out of 100 on the review aggregation site Metacritic, while the PS4 iteration of Conan Exiles is set with a 68 out of 100.

The offering of both The Surge and Conan Exiles continues the trend from Sony's prior announcement of only providing free PS4 games for PlayStation Plus users from here on out, as the company previously offered PS3 and PS Vita titles, too. So, whether or not these two titles will sate PlayStation Plus subscribers next month remains to be seen.
