It's the last Wednesday of the month, which means Sony has announced the free PlayStation Plus games for November 2020. But with November 2020 seeing the launch of Sony's next-generation PS5 console, this month's PS Plus lineup is especially interesting. As it turns out, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to claim three free PS Plus games for November 2020, on top of all the games set to be featured in the PS Plus Collection.

First off, PlayStation Plus subscribers on PS5 will be able to claim a free copy of BugsnaxBugsnax is a bizarre first-person game where players have to go around and capture creatures that are all based on food. Bugsnax's strange premise and catchy theme song have helped it turn heads, and while some may have been hesitant to try the game if they had to pay for it, it being available for free on PS Plus means most PS5 owners have no reason not to give it a shot. PS Plus subscribers can claim Bugsnax for free from November 12 to January 4, 2021. The PS4 version of Bugsnax will not be a part of the PS Plus lineup in November.

Those on PS4 have two free PS Plus games to look forward to in November, with both Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition joining the lineup. These games will be available to claim for free from November 3 to November 30, and thanks to PS5's backward compatibility with PS4, they will be playable on the new console as well.

Of course, PlayStation Plus subscribers actually have a lot more to look forward to in November than just the games listed here. Starting on November 12, PS Plus subscribers on PS5 can enjoy the PS Plus Collection, which is a lineup of free, critically-acclaimed PS4 games, including some of the console's biggest exclusives as well as third-party titles. Sony has released an update listed of the PS Plus Collection games that will be available come November 12.

From Worldwide Studios:

  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

From our third-party publishers and developers:

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard

Sony has also clarified that once a game is claimed from the PS Plus Collection, users can keep that game as long as they are subscribed to PS Plus. So it's not quite like Xbox Game Pass, where a game leaving the service means players can no longer play it without buying it outright.

In any case, the free PS Plus games for November 2020 set a clear precedent for how the program will be handled on the PS5. Bugsnax being available for two months seems to confirm that free PS Plus games on PS5 will sometimes be available for longer than just one month. We already know that Destruction AllStars will be free on PS Plus for two months beginning in February, though it's unclear what will the gap from January to February.

In the meantime, fans can still claim and download the free PS Plus games for October 2020 until November 3.
